superbowl fans displaced...
so i guess when all was said and done with the temporary seating not being finished, about 400 fans didn't have seats on sunday. the nfl admitted their mistake, paid the people 3x the amount of the ticket, let them on the field after the game, and they all are invited to next years superbowl where you know they'll be very well taken care of. my initial reaction was this was more than enough to make up for a mistake and all the people should be very grateful even though they were no doubt bummed at the circumstance.
however, i have been thinking baout this more and have tried putting myself in their shoes. for many of us, going to a superbowl would be a once in a lifetime thing. and as a vikings fan who wonders if i will ever see the day when they make it back to the big game, i'm thinking i would be very upset too. if the vikes were in the superbowl this year and i was one of the people screwed out of a seat i would be devastated. but if i had tickets to this years game, with no loyalty to either team i really would be satisfied with the nfl's solution.
i imagine there are some people who are very happy with the outcome, and are waiting for next years big game, and there are probably people more pissed than i can imagine because they weren't able to watch the packers win the superbowl.

We were talking about that, how many of those people were just random people there for the Superbowl experience and how many were Packer or Steelers fans there to see their team. I think for them, there is no making it up. For the others, I agree, they're being more than compensated!

One of the fans who got displaced called in to The Herd this morning, he was very happy how the NFL treated them afterwards. Everyone is looking to make an easy buck....
I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.

Re: superbowl fans displaced...
the article says its a group of 1000 fans who brought the lawsuit for $5million.
Thats $5,000 per fan. Pretty reasonable in my mind - cost of a ticket, airfare, hotel, food, ground transportation, etc.

ya except that of those 1,000....only 400 lost their seats. i can't imagine giving the people who still got to watch the game the same as those 400 who didn't. not to metion they have already been offered 3X the value of their tickets, $2400; they got perks after the superbowl like being able to go on the field, and now they have been offered tickets to ANY superbowl they want to go to with hotel and airfare included.91catAlum wrote:the article says its a group of 1000 fans who brought the lawsuit for $5million.

i understand it was a huge mistake and i'd be angry too. i'm just so sick and tired of people filing lawsuits for anything and everything.

some of the people, from what I understand, are season ticket holders who got shoved into obstructed view seats for their 1200 tickets without prior knowledgeilovethecats wrote:ya except that of those 1,000....only 400 lost their seats. i can't imagine giving the people who still got to watch the game the same as those 400 who didn't. not to metion they have already been offered 3X the value of their tickets, $2400; they got perks after the superbowl like being able to go on the field, and now they have been offered tickets to ANY superbowl they want to go to with hotel and airfare included.91catAlum wrote:the article says its a group of 1000 fans who brought the lawsuit for $5million.

ya i heard that. and i can see how they are angry. i would be too. but the nfl has admitted their mistakes. i highly doubt it was intentional. and they are making efforts to make things right. instead we're going to have another meaningless lawsuit that takes up the time of people who really could be worried about bigger issues....
