PSU overlooking MSU?

Post by weberwildcat » Mon Mar 01, 2010 1:06 am

But Vikings senior Dominic Waters was adamant Sunday's game was anything but meaningless.

"It was a statement game," he said. "I know if we win next week (at Montana State) we play (Weber State) when we get to their building. They got beat there in the semifinals last year so it's feasible for us. We've got to continue to play hard."

This looks like a classic case of looking too far ahead. I think the Cats play the best game of the year Sat.

I don't see any problem with that. He did say "if we win next week" before the comments about Weber. To me, it shows that even though they didn't have a great season he is still confident that they can win the BSC Tournament, which is probably the attitude a team needs to have in order to do any damage at all from the #6 seed.

I don't think they should be thinking about Weber at all. Every one of the teams should be looking at this weekends games as if it's their last, because it is, if they don't come out ready to play. This actually will be more important for the Cats who are playing the lower seed (who they've beaten twice) at home. Would be pretty easy to start looking ahead to Ogden and stumble against PSU who could come out and play like they have nothing to lose.

Why wouldn't he think about Weber? They had just beaten Weber, and I'm sure the reporter's question to him was something along the lines of, "Do you think this win gives you guys any advantage if you meet Weber in the tournament?". And he did say "IF" they beat MSU. Frankly, I get tired of the "we're not thinking about anyone but our next opponent" answers. BS. Everyone looks at the brackets and they know damn well who they will play in the 2nd round if they make it there. There's no reason to hide that.

We're all here 'cause we ain't all there.

You're gonna have to learn your clichés. You're gonna have to study them, you're gonna have to know them. They're your friends. Write this down: "We gotta play it one day at a time."
Anyone not following the wisdom of Crash Davis is subject to criticism.
