Winds may be changing for fair weather Griz fans
I just read in Saturdays Missoulain (which by the way Manch is starting to scoop the Missoulain on Griz stories) that Justin Hatman has asked Kysco if he could walk-on to the basketball team this fall. So does this mean that Hartman is now one of the top high school athletes to come out of Montana in in the last bla bla years. Is he now once again an, outstanding student, man of terrific character, and a credit it all of those fine athletes to come out of the Great Fall (an of course played for the Griz)!!!!!!!!

Oh, guaranteed MissoulaCat!!! Not a doubt in my mind that if ne actually tried out and made the team the fair-weather Griz fans would be all over that. I can hear it now - "All that other stuff is behind us now. Justin has matured alot as a person. He just was never really meant to be on the football team. I knew all along he'd be a B-Ball player for the Griz! Then all of them would be saying how they never badmouthed him when he quit the football team!". Hilarious.

I bad-mouthed him, and I'd continue to do so, if he made the team. But, there is no way he'll make it. His attitude would keep him from making the B-squad at Miles Community College.

Would 90% of "Griz Fans" even notice if Hartman made the basketball team? To many, the "Griz" is the local pro-lite football team that doesn't have a basketball affiliate.
Of course, there are plenty of true UM fans who follow even the teams that don't win lots of games.
On a more serious note, even having Hartman walk on to the team would lead to some interesting problems. You generally don't want to have one of your basketball players with a history of ripping on other coaches within the school. I would be very suprised if this happened.

So if Hartman shows up this September and tries out for basketball, Kysco will show him the door because of something that happen in the football field! I have heard no one who said that Hartman was a distraction on the football field / practice. Everyone I have talked to says he is a good Kid....
Do any of you Great Falls people feel otherwise?
..... Yet for one reason or another felt he was wronged by a coach. Yet I keep hearing Griz folks saying Kysco should get involved with a kid like this. Everything I have, heard, though says Hartman is a very quality person who is being judged by Griz on one single isolated event.
Why!? If you publically disagree with one Griz coach, than you have insulted the whole program!? I am missing the connection between Him ripping Hauck and why him being on the basketball team. I mean Hauck is not Don Reed! Heck he has not even proven himself to even carry Glen's Jock strap!I ripped Hartman too...and he's got balls to show his face in the Adams Center after his anti-Hauck campaign!!!
Put up with what! I have heard no one question Justin before all of this happen, the only sin I have seen heard he has done was his critisism this one time of Hauck. Furthermore Huack did not anything to endear him to the as a coach who takes the "high road" during this whole event.Krysko won't put up with it, and I give him a better chance at the Powerball than making the b-ball team. Besides, his grandparents will have to pony up more cash for b-ball tickets.

Are you kidding me? One single incident? Ask Bill Clinton about his "one single incident"...
This kid and his family created a s**t storm like no other in UM athletics! Letters to the editor bad-mouthing the program is a pretty serious action. Personally, I don't care how good a b-baller he is, he burned his bridge and is now looking for a way to recover, from the same school he gave the 1 finger salute...Tell you what, you guys take him!!

I gotta agree with Bozgriz on this one. Hartman did alot more than just bad mouth one coach at the University. Hartman and later his family showed true lack of class and maturity in trying to bring down not only a coach, but a program. Had a player done something like that at MSU, I sure wouldn't want him associated with any other program at the school. Maybe even better would be to let him walk on and make the team and the sit him on the bench so he could say he rode the pine for two UM programs.
