Swann suspended

Post by TomCat88 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 7:42 pm

From MSU:
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State basketball coach Brad Huse has suspended guard Larry Swann from the Bobcat basketball program, Huse announced Tuesday.

The suspension stems from a violation of MSU Athletics' code of conduct policy, and is indefinite. Swann, a junior from Columbus, OH, redshirted at MSU in 2008-09.

Geeez, don't let the Kaimin in on this news. Huse will never hear the end of it.

If the Exponent finds out what Swann did (especially if it was violent) and reports it, I for one won't complain a bit.

And if Huse hurls expletives at any reporters who ask him about this, I will complain about Huse's behavior.

As a booster and MT taxpayer, I actually want to know these kinds of things regarding the use of the money I donate/pay in taxes.

Geez, don't let the facts ruin GrizinWashington's version of the story. What is with you today anyway?

Aside from having to thank GrizinWashington for getting the thread totally off topic in Post #2 and without speculating about the cause of the suspension, what are the ramifications of this to the team for this year? Swann came in last year as a JC transfer but ended up redshirting, which is certainly rare. How much of a contribution was he expected to make this year? Perhaps mslacat or someone with more knowledge of the team can give some insight here...

I don't think Swann would have make a huge contribution this year. Maybe a decent backup but I don't feel like he was a major factor this season.

Larry Swann gave us depth. he was not going to challenge any of the starters or brown for playing time. His strength was as a scorer, and his defence was coming around. Last year he was redshirted because he could not learn/ run Huse's offense or defense. They redshirted him so he could spend a year to pick these things up. The Bobcats returned all of their guards/small forwards from last year save Hennessy so they were pretty solid. Brown has really improved since last year and looks to be the first guard/small forward off the bench. Piepoli is still not 100% but is close and I was very happy and surprised how well Louff played Tuesday. Enough that if Swann's suspension becomes more permanent I would not mind seeing Louff get his scholarship. Swan would have given some options and depth, but that might have meant cutting into somebody else's time to get him some regular time.

We can move forward with or with out him.
