It will be interesting to see how the cats respond after they completely sh*t the bed last week....... i just hope they win. We need to see some HUGE improvement on both sides of the ball.

Re: Weekly Predictions Thread: CATS vs South Dakota
Hello Bobcat fans,
It would seem like both of these teams might have some similarities. USD is a team that will be ok if they can stay in the game but they tend to unravel a bit in road games especially if they get behind. The Coyotes have the ability to come back in games but as a 2nd year transitional school they have yet to make the big plays that it takes to win games in the clutch. USD's defense has been very inconsistant over the last few years but this year they are playing a bit better. The best way to attack USD is to hit the quick passes and work the field 5-10 yards at a time. USD has a very good quarterback in Noah Shepard but he has been having some downfield accuracy problems as of last so MSU would be wise to make him win the game by throwing more than 10 yards downfield. USD can hit the big play but on the road it doesn't happen alot. If MSU allows Shepard running room is where he can create alot of problems for a defense.
USD has pretty good talent on the roster but they have yet to really tie everything together especially in a road game. They did defeat Southern Utah on the road last year but I considered the game a significant upset. The Coyotes have a tradition of being a completely different team at home than on the road. The road version hasn't been very good for the most part. If this game was in Vermillion it would be a much more difficult task for MSU. Being that the game is in Bozeman MSU should be able to win if they take care of their own business. If MSU does USD favors by turning it over and giving USD second chances on penalities the Coyotes could put a scare into MSU. USD's kicking game is a complete mess right now. They have lost games because of it. We are not talking just small problems but making 30 yards field goals and extra points has been a major problem. Last week USD lost in OT because the PAT kick never made it over 5 feet off the ground. UC Davis got credit with a block but didn't do anything much more than get in the way. USD had a wide open interception that they dropped in OT that would have given them the win over UC Davis but dropped it and than one play later gave up a 4th and 11 to allow Davis to get to the 2 yard line and eventually the touchdown and PAT for the win.
I originally predicted 35-7 in favor of Montana State and that could still be the case but 28-14 in favor of the Cats would probably be an accurate forcast of what to expect. Good luck and hope for a good game on Saturday.

How big of a home field advantage does the Dakota Dome give you guys? I would think quite a bit-it looks pretty cozy in there.Coyote Fan wrote:Hello Bobcat fans,

Re: Weekly Predictions Thread: CATS vs South Dakota
The dakotadome can be a very good advantage when the fans are riled up but that doesn't always happen. USD plays better because they have alot more confidence there and play a different brand of football. They have a swaggar that they don't have on the road very often. The Coyotes as much as they would like to fight it play too tentatively on the road and play with alot less energy on defense. One would think the offense would perform alot better at home because of the ideal conditions but it's actually the defense that steps up it's game at a more disproportionate rate. The O is a little better at home but the offense can often bring it fairly well on the road where the D is lacking behind in that area. When USD plays at home they can easily beat a team by 2 or 3 touchdowns that they would very easily lose to on the road by 2 or 3 scores. They have one of the largest discrepencies between home and road play, probably one of the biggest in all of college football. I hope the trend changes because I feel as if the true character of a team shows up on the road.

That's interesting-so far this season our team has generally played better on the road (except at Michigan State). Both our home games so far have been pretty bad.Coyote Fan wrote:The dakotadome can be a very good advantage when the fans are riled up but that doesn't always happen.
