Re: Montana East-West Shrine game is moving to..
If true this really surprises me, since it has been sponsored by all three temples and held in a nuteral/central location for many years. If it goes to Bagdad (Butte) I would expect a much lower turn out, (not just the game but the rest of the festivities too) I would then expect it to rotate between Algeria (Helena), Al Bedoo (Billings) and Bagdad (Butte). The East/West Shrine game is far more than just a football game and I think it would be a big mistake to move it from its current location. I doubt we would be traveling to Butte if it is there and I am sure many units from the west side wont travel to Billings if it is held there.

Butte is more centrally located than GF.
Deal with it.
Deal with it.

This may actually be a good idea. The Shrine game has gotten stale, but I think it has more to do than the location. First of all, they moved the game from August to July. August had more of a football feel to it than July. There is also 6 man, C, and B all star games in addition to the MonDak all star game. Also, you are seeing some of the big name players heading to the universities to work out during the summer so they can get a head start in the community and knowing the players. They don't want to risk injury and jeopardize their scholarship for an all star game.

Nope, but I did beat the kid up that won it all. Does that count?
Triple B has never been the same, now he limps, drinks crappy micro brews and cheers for the cats.

As Lee Corso would say "Not so fast my friend."
A big part of the problem in addition to the numerous all star games is the Shriners organization in general. Like many civic minded groups it is aging and becoming disconnected with the younger generation. This contributes to less involvement across the board.
