I don't think there is a huge amount of risk in a program taking Kramer on as an assistant, even from a PR perspective. It's not like he personally was in trouble with the law or anything here, the team he was responsible for was. As an assistant he won't be hiring other coaches and he won't be the last word on a recruit getting an offer. Unless he was to come on and in addition to being an assistant of some kind also be the recruiting coordinator or the academic coordinator for the team I don't see a whole lot of bad PR or problems. Could really be a win-win for both sides.Old Skool Cat wrote:Alot of talk about Kramer going to EWU or as an assistant to Wulff at WSU. But the fact of the matter is he comes with alot of baggage. We are seeing Hauck getting passed up for a few jobs and it possibly could be because of the troubles he has had with some of his athletes. Kramer is in the same boat. He would definitely not be a candidate for the EWU job since they are in our conference and are all too familiar with his past. EWU has too good a thing going right now with their team to jeopardize it with controversy. His best chance is as an assistant with Wulff, but not too sure WSU wants to take on the controversy right now either.

This does seem like a good fit. I hope Kramer ends up with a good opportunity to make a name for himself as an excellent assistant coach as a result. He seems to be exactly the kind of guy you'd want as your recruiting coordinator.bozechiro wrote:I dont see EWU wanting Kramer back any time soon. An assistant job is going to be his ticket back into the coaching world, and wulff is the man to hire him. I think it would be a good fit.

I had to laugh at the Griz fans who thought that their boy wonder coach could secure a Div. I head coaching position. The CSU article stated that Hauck had too many players with character issues to justify pursuing. I was also told by a good buddy who is a huge WSU booster that Hauck wanted that job badly, but that the AD would not even place him on their short list due to his players wearing stripes.
The coup de gras was when Wulff was hired at WSU. Hauck will never coach in IA, and we are still celebrating that the Griz are stuck with Bobby-ball for many more years. All I can say is....JUSTICE!

Looks like Wulff is taking most of his staff with him.
EWU assistants will join Wulff

Eastern Washington University’s football program, shaken by Paul Wulff’s decision to become the next head coach at Washington State, will have several other vacancies to fill on its coaching staff once Wulff is formally introduced as Bill Doba’s successor during a press conference this afternoon at WSU.
The Spokesman-Review has confirmed through conversations with multiple sources, that Wulff will take five of his Eastern assistants – including offensive coordinator Todd Sturdy and defensive coordinator Jody Sears – with him to Pullman.
In addition, defensive tackles coach Malik Roberson, linebackers coach Travis Niekamp and tight ends coach Rich Rasmussen will become members of Wulff’s staff at WSU.
Wulff and Sears are both WSU alumni and former Cougar teammates. Roberson also played with Wulff and Sears in college in the early 1990s, but finished his career at Central Washington University.
Sturdy, who joined Wulff’s staff at Eastern last winter, installed a no-huddle offense that served the Eagles remarkably well this fall as they averaged 462.3 yards and 33.6 points per game in going 9-4 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, where they lost to two-time defending national champion Appalachian State.
Sears, who graduated from Pullman High School before walking on at WSU, just finished his fifth season as Wulff’s defensive coordinator at Eastern. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as a defensive assistant at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
Sears also served as an assistant under Sturdy at St. Ambrose

1. Take this SH&T to the SMACK BOARD.Catmando3 wrote:I had to laugh at the Griz fans who thought that their boy wonder coach could secure a Div. I head coaching position. 2. It's damn ironic that someone would post anything against Hauck and the off-the-field problems when in the very same thread, people are trumpeting Kramer as a head coach.
3. Why wouldn't Wulff get hired over BH for the Coug job? He's a Coug. He heavily recruits Washington. He coached at a DI school in the state. Once he said he was interested, I don't know any Griz fan who thought BH should get the job over him. Doesn't mean BH is any worse of a coach. Just means Wulff was the obvious choice.
4. How much would you like to wager that Hauck will never coach IA football? I can go as high as as you wish. Put your money where your big ol' piehole is. C'mon. Belly-up.
5. If the Griz are "stuck" with Hauck, I'm pretty sure most of us are pleased as hell about that. With the exception of 8 people on eGriz who have 16 different handles each, Griz fans are happy with Hauck. We like winning Big Sky Championships, competing for and being in the National Championship discussion every year, selling 27,000 tickets months before the season opens, and graduating our players. Stuck with Hauck?? HELL YES!!!! For as long as possible, baby!!!
(oh, and incidentally....Hauck already HAS a Division One head job. Just so you know).

You must be a pretty big spender. This is about the tenth time I can remember (as I am sure there is more), where you want to bet someone, and then make the claim that you will bet whatever they wish. No I see why the jizzlies have such nice facilities, Gin Wa is a big spender.

One doesn't need to be extremely weaththy when nobody ever has the gonads to step up and take one of my bets. But I'd certainly be rich as hell if a few of them would.old wise one wrote:GrizinWashington wrote:1. Haven't I read posts on this board about you bragging that you and coach Kramer are such good friends? Now I am reading you say things like "And you'd literally have no brain if you hired Kramer at Eastern." and berating people here about trumpeting Kramers name for the head coaching job at Eastern?
You're some friend.

seatacat, I've posted that Kramer and I are friends. I've never claimed we were best buddies. That said, the reasons I don't think EWU should not hire Kramer have NOTHING to do with his coaching abilities, and EVERYTHING to do with this: Why in gawd's name would a school hire a coach who had been there already, and LEFT the program for what is/was essentially a lateral move. The coach could be Vince Lombardi and a school would be out of their minds to make that move. Hope that clarifies.
Au, I'd be happy to stop making outlandish bets if people would stop making moronically outlandish predictions about the Griz failure. No one ever takes the bets (which obviously indicates they don't believe what they posted in the first place), so it's clear that we've both wasted our time by posting anyhow.
