CSU is the wrong direction, try farther West

Lots of coaching changes coming down. In the "would Ripley believe this?" catagory...what if Bobby Hauck goes to CSU, or farther west and Mike Kramer ends up coaching 200 miles west of Bozeman...the Big Human in grizwear. Now that would be something to behold!!!

I guarantee that such an announcement would set records for eyeballs and posts on both egriz and bobcatnation.com!

Krames will be lucky to get an assistant's job at the FCS level, let alone a HC position.

Krames is built for Division II.

I think any school that would make an offer to Hauck would make an offer to Wulff first because he is a better coach. if Wulff does get an offer and move to a larger school I wouldn't be surprised to see Kramer as one of his position coaches. That seems like a very likely scenario in my mind.

Do you suppose Wulff will get a look by WSU? I picture them looking down on EWU to the extent that they wouldn't touch their coach, but I might be reading the attitudes out there completely wrong.

I would be suprised if WSU would go for Hauck, but not Wulff. I think Wulff is the better option of the two and is already in that area.

I would be really surprised if Hauck ends up at either school.

What if Robb Akey applies for and gets the WSU job? He was a highly respected, long time WSU assistant before taking the Idaho job last season. He probably still lives in Pullman, or very close by.
If so, it would mean Idaho will need to find another head coach for something like the 58th consecutive year.

I believe Paul Wulff is a WSU alum and former Coug. I would think that with his record at EWU he deserves a look, and I suspect he'll get one.
The idea of Wulff hiring Kramer as an assistant or coordinator if he moves up sounds interesting to. For Kramer's sake, I hope he re-takes some of his turf.

He may be looking after Idaho finished 1-11.

One thing about Wulff, though -- I agree that he is a great coach, but does he really have much of a reputation as a great coach, outside the BSC?

I don't have his stats right in front of me, but I don't think his win/loss record is that impressive (aside from this year -- and correct me if I'm wrong), and they haven't exactly made a lot of deep playoff runs during his tenure there. The fact is, *we* know Wulff is a great coach because we're BSC fans and we see the teams he puts on the field every year, but if you were the AD at CSU or WSU (and not a die-hard BSC fan who has really followed the teams closely over hte past five years), do you really think Wulff's record at EWU would catch your eye over Hauck's (i.e., 2004 title game appearance, 2006 semi-final appearance, 11-1 record in 2007)?

Although I am already hearing Mike Price's name over here I personally am skeptical of WSU making him an offer. WSU is a great job for an up-and-comer. High energy, great "folks" skills, a keen understanding of the type of young athlete who can excel in Pullman, WA. Wulff, to me, sounds exactly like that guy. He's already a "Coug" and that means a whole bunch in Pullman.
