1. The WAC was looking for more members
2. The amount we could get for game guarantees
3. Other than football and basketball our athletic teams are pretty good, and had more potential in the WAC.
Idaho won't go back, but should they I will stop supporting them, because of that step backwards.
Do You Think Idaho Will Return To BSC?

A good rule of thumb is to never listen to someone who has the word 'Red Sox' or 'Vandal' in their screen name.biobengal wrote:Redsoxvandal must be an underclassman. Georgia Southern comes to mind, and not that long ago.Go Scats Go wrote:Idaho is much like Montana
If UM goes 1A Montana State would too. Via (board of Regents)
The only reason Idaho "moved" up was to stay with Boise.
PS when is the last time a University moved down to what was the I-AA??

Nope. When GSU resurrected their football program in 83, they were independent and I believe they won two 1-AA titles in a row a couple of years later with a bunch of Westside High School kids from Augusta, GA. Been 1-AA ever since they were cleared by the NCAA to play.WalkOn79 wrote:Georgia Southern comes to mind, and not that long ago.Go Scats Go wrote:Idaho is much like Montana

Marshall comes to mind. They played in the MAC, but were demoted.WalkOn79 wrote:Georgia Southern comes to mind, and not that long ago.Go Scats Go wrote:Idaho is much like Montana

That was true for Idaho, but not for Idaho State. I don't think Idaho will ever return to the Big Sky. They've said no to the suggestion many times, including in 2003 when Fullerton took it upon himself, uninvited, to speak to Idaho's higher ed board about how impractical IA was for the Vandals.Go Scats Go wrote:Idaho is much like Montana

This gave me an interesting thought, although I'm pretty sure it's not what you intended. Personally, I'd rather be a supporter of a team who can win and challenge for championships on a regular basis than for a bottom dweller. Personally, I loved when Idaho was in the Big Sky (I still remember when they came to Bozeman ranked #1 and got beat by the Cats in a God-awful snowstorm. I, literally, couldn't see the other side of the field from the stands. Awesome) and I think they're a better fit for the Big Sky than the WAC.NebrVandal wrote:82...
Maybe UI would still be in the BSC if, bozo st & UN-R where still members. However, I don't particularly enjoy the thoughts of playing PSU, WSU, NAU, Sac St, or No. Colo. Do you??
Honestly, what is one good reason for Idaho to stay in I-A (or BCS or whatever the heck you want to call it)? Is it really that much better for the school athletically to go 4-8 with "the big boys" than to go 10-2 with "the little guys"?

Jag, this is my 2nd post on this board. I'm lurking only to check on the status on Mike Kramer; otherwise, I could give a rip about Cats & Griz.jagur1 wrote:Anybody find it odd how many Vandal fans respond on this topic when it comes up on BN or EGriz? NebrVandal,
I have lived in Idaho for the past 11 years and everyone I work with is a graduate of Idaho (all 15 of them) one of which is a former football player. I also have another good friend that is a former Idaho football player. I glad to say that not all Vandal fans are this ignorant in their understanding of college football. Idaho has a great football tradition even back to its Pac-10 days. I am sure that most of the alumn respect that tradition and the tradition of ALL college football.
As I recall, Idaho has not had the best of luck with either MSU or UM in years past. Maybe if more of you gave a "rip" about Montana College Football they you could figure out how to beat the Griz.
I have spent a lot of time defending Idaho football. I respect their tradition - A string of bad coaches and poor luck can be turned around. It happened at MSU (I was there when the turnaround started and it took 11 years). The goal of any college football team is to figure out how to win at the level they are playing at. BSU figured it out and I am sure Idaho can as well - They actually made it to a D-1 bowl game before Bozo State.
Please do not disrespect the fans of UM and MSU football. Most of us are cheering for all intermountain schools to succeed on a national level. Yes including Boise State (my wife is a BSU alumn, yuck)

Kinda harsh gecko... If I recall correctly, they had to step back because their football team was killed in an airplane crash, right?theblackgecko wrote:Marshall comes to mind. They played in the MAC, but were demoted.
