jagur1 for someone who bitches about Cat fans so much I don't think you have any room to talk about anyone else.

Sorry, but for a class of fans that has personally seen the "if you build it we will come" phenomenon work I find it hard to believe you would be dumb enough to say that jagur. Yeah, MSU will probably make very little if anything from the game itself...but for the first time in my 11 years in Bozeman this entire town is talking about the Cats and truly excited. The game itself isn't what is going to benefit MSU athletics, it's the excitement and exposure it generates that will especially if we win which--despite our early season showing--is much more possible at home.

As for TV, I believe Max Media is picking it up.

Even the sandbagged attendance figures you estimated would gross us about $200K on the face-value of the tickets (excluding services fees, concessions, etc., etc.).

Methinks your post was long on spite and short on wisdom. But only time will tell. If you are right, I will be sure to congratulate you on your insight. If you are wrong, I have no doubt you will be the first to show up and acknowledge it.

Lets say the cats project to sell 10,000 tickets at an average of $15.00
per ticket. You could easily bid in the $100,000 plus range.
I think the NCAA sets the prices and take 80-90% of the gross. We have to guarantee the numbers at the gate. Playoff games are not money making games the home team.
Yes but a home bid could generate buzz for years to come and bring in future moneys (see University of Montana...that is not smack that is a congratulations for what you have accomplished).

Realistically, you could probably gotten a home game for about 35 cents. We're still flying the flag.

Interesting ... so maybe that's a big reason why we got you guys to begin with? You couldn't host a home game regardless, and we perhaps came in with a really big bid? This may have been a game made in heaven as far as the playoff committee was concerned!

Since they are going to "look into it", I doubt anything would have prevented them from hosting seeing how the game is in five days.

Not true. The NCAA awarded a home game to Division II Newberry for this coming weekend.

Rumor has it we are at 6000 tickets this morning; prior to the season tickets being available, 1st the boosters and then the general public.
We need to sell 10,000; but we really want to sell out.
WE'LL get there; excitement is growing in Bozeman. I think a number of people who haven't attended football games as a rule will go because it's the playoffs. I know I've talked to a few people who haven't gone to a game this year but want to go now.

I guess it's just a matter of interpretation. Newberry was seeded number 3 - Furman is not seeded. This came out of an article in yesterday's Gritville News. "The NCAA already bars scheduled postseason championship games in South Carolina. However, it allows South Carolina teams to host games when they earn slots, such as regional postseason baseball play." Maybe I'm just reading between the lines.

I have been trying to rally all of my troops, fans, or anybody looking for something to do saturday. We are up to 47 and still have a few more to hear back from. We got almost everyone at my work, and 6 from my wifes work. The best sell I had was my nieghbor across the street, I reminded him that his wife would have on a ladder all weekend putting up christmas lights if he didn't go. He thought about it for 2 seconds and said how do I get tickets?

I would sure hate to work at the ticket office tommarrow when the general admission tickets go on sale. What a mad house that will be.

I have been telling everyone to make a few phone calls and invite a few people. In the regular season we always try to bring someone that has never been to Bobcat football game. I think we are 4 for 4 in getting them to at least join ASA, and one couple has become season ticket holders. Niether of them are from montana, and have (had) no university preference. But believe me they do now. I think sometimes people want to go but are shy, and don't think they will know anyone ect. ect..

GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice work. My contribution? In addition to about 14 family members and friends, I have 3 Griz fans meeting me there. Top that...

I've noticed that a few different schools have different prices with our being the highest....I thought the NCAA set prices

SC is off the list because they fly the 'rebel flag', Oregon is off the list because of gambling, North Dakota is off the list because of the mascot....

Where can the NCAA hold championships?

Catatac,

We got the 2 griz fans coming, I think I will shoot for 1 more and that should make an even 50. I think they are starting to wonder about our account at the ticket office, when we tell them the name for the guy picking them up they cut me off and say "I know". LOL

SEE YOU ALL SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
