Poll - can you root for the Griz
don't want this to be smack - with all of the comments on the sportsman ship of both sides after the game, i was just curious how the nation felt about rooting for the griz if (unlikely) the Cats exit early... I too have had run-in's with griz fans at games and sat. parties - one ex-griz football player actually challenged me, in front of my three year old kid, to go outside after the Cats won last year (he was challenging everyone- very drunk - and very NO CLASS!)

Regaudless if you are a Cat or Griz fan, a win by both team benefits both teams. Two wins helps the big Sky conference standing next year when it comes time to decide whether 2 or more teams get a at large bid. The common line has been that the Big Sky can not be that good because their teams (esspecially at large bids) fail to compete in the play offs. Besides I would love for the Cats to play the Griz again on a nuetral feild.

If both the Montana schools play in the National Championship game, maybe we can convince the NCAA to play it somewhere a bit closer to Montana?

No, nor will I ever. It's all because of Holst and the handicapped individual that traveled with the team and how they reacted when we lost in 2000 during the Big Sky tourney in our house. It was classless and I lost all respect for any U of M sports players/personel. I do not however have a problem with anybody that cheers for the Griz, I just can't stand anybody that plays for them.
Family is family forever, until they become a Griz fan.

I know what you mean, what with those silly eat s**t stickers on their coats and all...Gus wrote:Plus they have idiotic fans like silly. Makes it pretty hard to root for them.

Just kidding, both sides have their fair share of questionable antics and fans...
I'll pull for the Cats this week and the Griz every week...

Definitely would like to hear what happened too. I haven't heard anything about that. I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm just curious as to what happened since its the first I've heard of that incident.anacondagriz wrote:Care to explain?DaCats Forever wrote:No, nor will I ever. 1. How many Montana kids play for McNeese State?
2. Of course I root for the Griz in the playoffs. We got in this year partly because of the game we played against them on Saturday, and their national reputation. It's a bit short sited to not pull for them when they get to the national stage. Playoff wins only make the BSC stronger.
3. I reserve the right to root against them in conference play, when it can impact the overall conference standings. I generally root for the BSC team with the worse record, because any upset may help the Cats in the long run.

I couldn't answer because the question was not worded correctly. Typically, I never root for the Griz, even in the playoffs. After living through all the sh$@t we had to take about the f'n "streak" I just couldn't bring myself to cheer for them. But this might be different. If the stars are lined in our favor, it would be really cool to see Cat/Griz, Part II for the national title!

Walkon has hit it perfectly. I handle rooting for the cats the same way. Certainly in the playoffs, and usually in BSC play as well, unless a cat loss helps the Griz.WalkOn79 wrote:1. How many Montana kids play for McNeese State?

Growing up I was an anti-griz fan way before I even became a bobcat fan. I followed professional sports and wasn't much into college sports and was ridiculed by all the grizzly fans in the area because I wouldn't wear maroon. It was even 50 year old men teasing a group of like 5 of us second graders. As soon as I found out there was a rival team to the grizzlies I jumped on as fast as I could. Now I am die-hard bobcat and could never root for them.

When I was younger, I always rooted for the other guys when MSU was done. Then I got to college and had some bad run-ins with those in the Maroon. While I realize there are retards on both sides, I've never been able to get the taste out of my mouth from those people even though I know they were (probably) in the minority

Yeah, I have no idea why anyone would hate the Grizzlies or their fans. They're all so nice, humble, and modest.theblackgecko wrote:WalkOn79 wrote:

By that logic, why would anyone cheer for Montana State?![]()

I'll root for the Griz in the playoffs unless they are playing the Cats.
Regular season, I hope they lose each week because my uncle and best friend are Griz fans who rub it in whenever the Cats lose.
