Attendence

Since this is the Thanksgiving weekend do you think we can draw more than 8K or 9K? I know the griz are always down in attendence for this game by about 25%.

I hope for more. But, that's just about exactly what I guessed earlier today 8-10k).

If the fact that many people could not get through on the phones is any indication from this afternoon, hopefully these seats fill up!!

I think we will draw more than 10k, simply from the fact that we haven't hosted a playoff game since 1984, the excitement factor should get us over 10k, I hope.

I just sent an e-mail to anyone in my addy book that might be interested, hoping to put a few more butts in the seat. I just feel this could be a huge push in taking that next step with our football program, and poor attendence would not look to well to the committee.

I would challenge all of you to do the same. Everybody knows that head in the sand person that isn't doing anything for the holiday, take them to Bozeman. Hell a live college footbal game is better than some dry old bird anyway.

We shortened our chance for left-overs so we'll be in our seats!

I agree. I think one of the reasons many Griz fans don't show up that opening playoff game is become they have become accustomed to hosting a first round game. They probably think they will go eat turkey the first round and catch a second round if the Griz advance.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, it has been 22 years since Bozeman was the site of a 1-AA playoff game (now known as the FCS). Our fans are rabid to finally see our Cats on our home turf. I am guessing we have at least 12,000 there, but my hope is for 15,000!

8 or 9K might be about right. But it will seem like more.

Unlike regular season attendance where everybody counts tickets sold and not the actual butts in the seats, playoff attendance might be under-reported because we have to send the $$$ to the NCAA.

Also, there won't be cooperate seats that go unused but are counted as attendance.

My concern is the student section. Will they cut off the holiday weekend early and get back to Bozeman for the game?

I'm just happy that we have to worry about that. Never thought it coulda happened with the loss yesterday. I'll be coming back early to wear the blue and gold.

How many students normally attend the games? We see our student attendance drop way off as most have gone home for the weekend.

I agree. If I wasn't heading to NE MT for turkey day, I'd be in Bozeman. Yes, I said that. 8)

Attendence could be rough with it being Thanksgiving weekend and there being THREE playoff games in MT that day.

How amazing is that.
Griz Playoff game in Missoula.
Carroll Playoff game in Helena.
Cat Playoff game in Bozeman.

Saturday will be a great day for football in Montana.

I secured my tickets last night. I asked the girl on the other end how the response from season ticket holders has been so far. She said it had been just crazy. I am guessing we should have around 11,000 or better for this game. I am going to get another couple tickets today or tomorow afternoon.

It's the biggest traveling holiday of the freaking year, guys, even in Missoula. Hell, 40 percent of Montana's season tickets, or 7,000, are mailed to people who don't live in Missoula to begin with. Throw in a little travel, some relatives who want to shop on the biggest retail day of the year, and the stadium gets a little empty. Not to mention that some fans just don't like a cold November day outdoors.
I think it'd be great if both UM and MSU used the playoffs to invite, at a discount, any high school football player who wanted to see the game. Might be a good day to discount tickets for anyone who served in the Iraq War. Everyone should plan on bringing at least one extra person to the game.

I talked to a friend in Montana Hall and we need to sell 7,000 tickets to break even for this game. The campus is prettly empty today so hopefully some students will cut their vacation short.

It looks like there will be a fair student turnout. There has been a pretty steady line at the SUB today. Not sure about the Fieldhouse though.

I was at the fieldhouse around 11:00 and there was a pretty steady line between students and season ticket holders. They have all three windows open and all three were busy.

I think we'll get a good turnout; most likely a sell out; although maybe not all the seats will be used.
