MSU Looking For Marketing Director
I was excited to see MSU is looking for a Marketing Director. Hopefully they can bring someone on who can transfer some of the football energy into their basketball games.

Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing

Starting Date January 1, 2007
Salary Salary will be negotiated and is dependent upon experience and qualifications. Benefits are included; salary is prorated for partial months' employment. Montana University System contract; non-tenured; no faculty rank, full time (1.00 FTE). First contract begins Jan. 1, 2007, and continues through June 30, 2007. Based on need, financial resources, and satisfactory performance, contract may be renewed annually on July 1 for 12 months
Duties and
Responsibilities The Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing reports to the Director of Athletics. Duties and responsibilities will include:
** Serve as a member of the Director of Athletics Senior Management staff attending all meetings as scheduled.
** Direct and assist with the development and implementation of all marketing for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
** Develop and assist in the solicitation and fulfillment of corporate sponsorship activities for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics; maintain and service existing clients.
** Direct and supervise Assistant Director of marketing and Spirit Squad Coach.
** Department of Intercollegiate Athletics liaison with Licensing Director on issues regarding logo/marks for athletics and related promotional programs.
** Serve as the liaison between Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Bobcat Sport Properties.
** Direct in the training, supervision and assigning of work to select full and part-time staff, graduate assistants, intern staff, and volunteers who are responsible for sports marketing activities in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
** Formulates and implements the marketing and promotion strategies for the Department
** Direct the marketing of special events, such as Big Sky Conference and NCAA Championship events.
** Oversee distribution and sales of the official game day program for football.
** Work closely with head and assistant coaches on promotional activities and items for their respective sports.
** Manage the marketing budget.
** Oversee all aspects of promotional game management for all sports, including but not limited to management of PA/message board announcements, coordination of large scale video display, coordination of in-game music, rotating signage during events staged at arena and management of on-court/field promotional activities.
** Serves as Tournament Director for Men's and Women's Holiday Basketball Tournament, as well as directs all Departmental special events (i.e., Border War).
** Works with coaching staffs to promote fan identity and interest in Bobcat student-athletes and coaches.
** Direct and assist in the production of all promotional print materials for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
** Responsible for complying with all Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Montana State University, NCAA and Big Sky Conference rules and regulations.
** Attendance at all home athletic contests and assisting with game management duties as assigned by the Event Manager.
** Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Required
Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, public relations, or related field.
2. Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in marketing and promotions.
3. Demonstrated experience interacting with a diverse constituency using excellent interpersonal communications skills, both written and oral.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of basic NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred
Qualifications 1. Knowledge of marketing principles and advertising industry standards.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of basic Big Sky Conference rules and regulations.
3. Demonstrated problem solving skills.
The Successful
Candidate Will be able to organize complex projects; have the ability to initiate, coordinate, and complete tasks with little or no direct supervision, meeting all deadlines; possess the ability to maintain poise under all circumstances, comprehend issues and problems as they arise, and deal with them effectively in highly stressful situations; be able to establish rapport and work with diverse constituents and be able to function professionally under high stress and confrontational circumstances, using facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
