Since they don't play their last game until Nov. 25 (same day the playoffs start) the Toreros can't play in the playoffs.

I dont think the Cats will get in if they lose. If they do lose to the Griz it had better be close. If its 10+ Point L then the cats are done.

The cats will not get a seed over New Hampshire. Ricky Santos will be in the playoffs if the commitee has thier way.

And I think That PSU gets the nod with a 1A win and 2 1A L's. Sorry cats, but you had better win this weekend.

If the Tereros get in they will cancel their game on the 25th.

The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

Not necessarily. UCD has agreed to "cancel" the game with San Diego in the event of San Diego receiving a bid to the I-AA playoffs. Additionally, the mid-major conferences (the Pioneer and NEC) have agreed that a USD playoff bid could result in the second place team from the Pioneer (Drake) taking USD's place in the Gridiron Classic, paving the way for USD to accept a bid to the playoffs.

Again, not saying I agree with any of this (mostly because USD's schedule is horrific - Billings West could hammer most of the teams on there), it's just the way it is.

I don't see how they can get in at 10-0. UCD would've been the best team they played and would've been a win that would give them some backing. I still don't think they'll go and why should they?

We just need to win the game this weekend. I want that home playoff game and the #9-11 seed we will probably get when we win. Its a playoff game this weekend. I think the team needs to focus on winning AT ALL COSTS!

There's no such thing as a 9-11 seed. Yes, IF we win we'll get in and have home playoff game. That's a done deal. IF we lose, we should still get in based on what I see from other teams around the country. But I don't see the league promoting this for MSU, but they are for PSU.

I started another thread "MSU 4-loss ..." that explains why we should get in with four losses, but more importantly that we should start making some noise now or we'll just get blown off like last year. I've been told from some good sources that the Selection Cmte. doesn't do a lot of research itself, so someone needs to present one of its members with a team's case or nothing happens. The BSC is represented by Sac State's AD. Do you really think he'll do a bunch of research and present a bunch of info on MSU's behalf?

I agree in that I don't think they should get in. I just have a feeling that Harbaugh's been screaming and complaining ("Hey, look at us! We have the best quarterback in college football! Hey, hey, HEY!") so much that enough of the selection committee members will drink the USD kool-aid and let them in. I hope not, but I just have a feeling. Take it for what it's worth (which ain't much).

Okay, I've beat this horse enough. It died, got beaten, got buried, got dug up, got beat some more, and so on...

In the unlikely event that MSU loses on Saturday and still gets a playoff bid-where would we go?

The griz would almost certainly be one of the 4 seeded teams and we would almost certainly be one of the last teams to make the field. Does that mean a return trip back to Missoula the next week since they group teams up by region to reduce travel costs? How weird would that be?

I'm hoping McNeese wins the Southland (even though I haven't been able to do anything besides follow the Cats this year) and they come to Bozo.

If we were lucky enough to sneak in at 7-4(would take a lot of help around the country), I could see us going to McNeese.

This weekend is a playoff. Can't worry about round 2 until you win round one.

It's actually an interesting question, and I have no idea. Does anyone know if travel costs/distance come into the equation at all in deciding first round matchups?

Maybe a good place to start would be to guess who will be the top 4 seeds and who will be the likely "others". Then, you could take the 4 "others" who could bring the $$$ enough to host a game (McNeese? Furman? Youngstown - if they're not top 4?). Or, we could just save the energy and wait until after the Cats' win on Saturday and see who gets to come to Bozeman. UTM? Coastal Carolina? New Hampshire? McNeese?

I'm just not smart enough to think of all the possibilities...

Yes. Terry Wanless was interviewed on I-AA WAVES the other day, and I would say he's very knowledgeable about the potential at-large bid for MSU and PSU.

All first round games are regionalized. The Southland is considered part of the "west". It's almost certain that with the down year they've had, McNeese (or SHSU, whomever wins) will get sent to Missoula. The only possible exception might be if SD makes it, and then they would likely go to Missoula (since UM would be the highest rated team in the West, they'd get one of the last teams to be considered).

Even if McNeese State wins the Southland Conference their chances in the I-AA playoffs would hinge on their going on the road to one of the four seeded teams, I would assume more than likely, primarily because they're not even rated in the top 25 same as Lehigh (if they get past Lafayette) IMHO Generally, but not concisely, 1 - 16, 2 - 15, 3 - 14 & 4 - 13 etc. being the ideal system of matchups but hardly the way it goes at times though; there would be four regional seedings with the four seeded teams hosting (generally) & whomever else has to put forth a hosting bid; as far as I understand.

we had one of the best QB's in the nation last year and the Griz still got in ahead of us. Let's just win this game.
