And why would you want to play a top 10 team when you can play Chadron State?BozoneCat wrote:Not scheduling a team for a couple of seasons is not "being afraid of them." I thought that the last little bit of this article was the best. Coach Ellerson points out that the griz won't play the Mustangs in San Luis Obispo. He doesn't think that the series will last much longer with lack of desire on the part of um to go to CP SLO.
chicken sh!ts is what I think. Even though we will all hear about how much financial sense does it make for the griz to go on the road when wagriz will make XX dollars. chicken sh!ts is what I think.

Big Sky refereeing? Griz fans caught hell for making excuses last year (which they deserved), will that be your excuse this year? The Griz didn't have a great game rushing against Poly, but it was against a defense far superior to yours.Weltercat wrote:To be fair holding ISU's offense down in Missoula is not the same as holding them down in Pocatello, apples and oranges man.To be fair, we did hold ISU's offense to 92 total yards, our offense couldn't convert in the red zone.
This game matches up allot like last year. The fiz will not run against the cats. I think the cats have the edge on offense and defense but special teams, turnover margin and big sky refereeing favor the fiz.

How is good ol' "home cookin'" refereeing an excuse? The Cal Poly fans saw it, and Easctoastgriz readily admits the Griz get some friendly calls from the BS refs (pun intended).Htowngriz wrote:Big Sky refereeing? I don't know that Cal Poly's D is "far superior" to ours. They have a better D than we do, but the Cats have a pretty damn good D, in case you haven't noticed.
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

And the ref comment? Nice. It's good to start filling that excuse bag early. You've only got two weeks. Might I suggest a few other suggestions:
It was too cold for your California players.
The crowd yelled when you were trying to call a play.
Those mean Grizzly D-ends kept sacking your quarterback.
The scoreboard operator kept putting bigger and bigger numbers next to the Griz, but always left your score at zero.
You had to stay in a cheap hotel and didn't get any sleep because Krames blew the enire travel budget staying in motels for home games.
That number 7 for the Griz kept throwing it over your guys' heads, right to his guys, and wouldn't let you play at all. Not fair!!
You were expecting number 38 to run all over you, so when numbers 20 and 41 did it, you didn't know what to do.
The Griz kept their starting QB in until mid-way through the 2nd quarter.
The guys in maroon kept catching our passes.
That Tuff guy wouldn't even give us a chance to tackle him on punt returns.
And most importantly, Bobby Hauck is just mean to us.
Hope those help. See you in a couple weeks.

i actually felt for swogger when they boo'ed him (i can understand frustration with play calling, but booing the player - tough crowd). i hope to hear some more of that in a couple weeks - might have to use that one again here on this board if this get out of hand.....

I don't think they were booing Swogs. I think they were booing RP. I don't think they liked all the deep balls on 3rd and one.MSU Toddler wrote:i actually felt for swogger when they boo'ed him (i can understand frustration with play calling, but booing the player - tough crowd). i hope to hear some more of that in a couple weeks - might have to use that one again here on this board if this get out of hand.....
STill, I cannot STAND booing at college athletic events. The only time it's at all justified is if it's obvious that players are not giving it there all. That certainly wasn't the case on Sat.

I agree it's tasteless to boo the players because their only playing how their taught. But you didn't see what happened at Bobcat stadium last Saturday. The crowd booed for the remaining 5 minutes of the game after the call and it's my interpretation it was all directed at the officials. They booed louder every time the refs signaled the play clock. I would hope the players were able to distinguish the boos were not at them.MSU Toddler wrote:

The boo's at UM sounded pretty impressive coming over my radio. They sounded like some hate filled boo's too, I mean people really trying to blow their vocal chords they were booing and hissing so hard.
Last winter a group of Swogger lovers from WSU appeared on eGriz shortly after he xfered. A big Care Bare orgy ensued as everyone dreamt of that 'scary good' offense that BH keeps talking about. I tried to warn the Swogger backers that his level of play would need to skyrocket if he was going to avoid the wrath of the Griz faithful; as far as Griz fans are concerned he wasn't brought in here to fart around between the 20's, he was brought in to throw an obscene amount of TD passes... plain and simple. They scoffed at my warning, quite sure that their guy would shred IAA with ease. Oh well.

I'm sure the students behind the MSU bench made it explicitly clear who they were booing at. I know from watching on T.V. that one fella was definately foaming at the ref's... and I was just reading his lips.Cledus wrote: I agree it's tasteless to boo the players because their only playing how their taught. I am 100% sure that every person in Bobcat Stadium including the players and coaches knew exactly who the boos were directed at. That back judge should never ref a BSC game again. I am pretty sure my vocal cords are still recovering.Cledus wrote:IBut you didn't see what happened at Bobcat stadium last Saturday. do you think the players during the game mentally go "oh nevermind that booing - it is for our offensive coordinator" - especially after a short incomplete pass? i'm just asking since you even said "i think".I don't think they were booing Swogs. I think they were booing RP. I don't think they liked all the deep balls on 3rd and one.
and what type of fan do you think boos those plays? i mean is it the long time griz fan that has been with the team through thick and thin or is it the fans that come out when the team starts to win or who? again just curious. (my opinion - the booing fan = the bandwagon fan . . . see why Cat fans think the griz have lots of bandwagon fans).

Right on the money. I was in the same boat... I have a good friend who is a die hard WSU fan and when Swogger transferred to UM he told me to get ready for a Griz team well under 50% passing and equal TD to INT ratio. There's a reason he wasn't QB at a mediocre WSU team.GavinDonos wrote:The boo's at UM sounded pretty impressive coming over my radio. Yes, and if we want to compare games, we can look at PSU and how our D held them to the big GOOSE EGG!!!
