As many of us noticed, there were a lot of seats available in the student section. I was surprised how the tailgate was so subdued on Saturday afternoon. I don't understand why a person would want to do anything else on a picture-perfect October afternoon in Bozeman than attend a game, but for some reason there were a lot of empty seats. Some people on this board have said that student tickets should be reduced because of it and given to people who want them. I'd still like to keep these tickets for students so that people like me and other students who attend every week get our tickets. It's frustrating to me that these seats aren't full. I'd be open to giving those seats to others if they are not filled at kickoff, but I don't want to see the student tickets given up until the last possible minute. I'd like to know everybody else's opinion on this situation.

You can't really be surprised by this. Every time I go to Bozo it has the feel of being a boring town that lacks energy. This is a common perception that I hear often. I like the look of the town but the atmosphere sucks. Sort of unfriendly.............

You are a puke- stay where you are at. I lived there for 8 years and wouldn't trade any of them. I'm not going to rant, but for you not to have fun in Bozeman must mean that you are either spending too much time at PBS or you sat at home and played with yourself every night of your life. The only bar fight I've ever seen was in Bozeman, at Montana Fats, underneath the Cannery.

It wasn't a couple of guys doing the man dance. It escalated to the entire bar, like in the movies. Man, that rocked.

I wouldn't worry, there are too many of us with good memories (mostly not bar fights) to let a couple of nob jobs spoil them.

It's nothing more than gayer-than-Liberace smack right before Cat-Griz.

I'll be honest -- when I lived in Montana, I was never really excited about Bozeman. I would go there for the occasional weekend to visit friends at MSU, and always had an ok time, but always preferred Missoula.

But -- I was in Bozeman for a wedding about a year ago (my first visit to Bozeman since I moved east -- which was five yeas ago) and I have to say that I had an awesome time that weekend. Granted, I have too many good memories in Missoula to not still prefer it, but Bozeman has really exploded in the past five years, and I have to say that Bozo has graduated from an "ok town" to an actual "fun town" in my book.

I've got some great memories of Bozeman as well. In the mid 80's we would go to the Rockin R and.....wow. Although I prefer Billings over any other Montana town, I'd say Bozeman is pretty cool.

Speaking of Griz Fans and Egriz, (and I'm sure this is a re-hash of several previous threads). I snuck over to Egriz this week, and man, that board is out of control. EVERY thread turns to Cat-smack almost immediately. I guess if I want to venture over there for any intelligent conversation and good natured ribbing, I need to pony up the bucks to go to the "members only" site.

This is not a bash to the regular Griz fans on this site, which I think bring some balance and add to the fun in general, but 90% of those A--holes over there should just stay there. I have a great appreciation for the work our Moderators do at the Nation, and also thanks to the Griz regulars here for keeping it real for the most part.

Funny thing...I grew up about an hour north of Missoula and worked in Missoula for about a year. I can't stand the town! Restaurants, can't compete with Bozeman, give me one example of a good restaurant in Missoula and I will give you 4 (locally owned) from Bozeman. Their "downtown" is too spread out. Bars are probably equal in my opinion because most people determine a good bar by who they know and the bartenders. Traffic is nuts! Shopping is to spread out and don't get me started on the unfriendly feeling town comment.

I encourage Savage to name one bar in Missoula that compares to Stacey's or any bar in Livingston. Sure Stacey's is a nice bar but it is a small town destination bar.

When I am in Missoula I can't get to back to Bozeman fast enough.

I don't know Bozeman well enough to know, but I actually think Missoula has a lot of good restaurants for its size. Just off the top of my head, and without listing any chain restaurants: Guy's Steak House (in Lolo, I know...but feel free to count Sir Scott's, which I consider a Bozeman restaurant even tho it's in Manhattan), The Depot, Shadow's Keep, Curly's, El Cazador (great Mexican), Mongo's, the Staggering Ox (great sandwiches), the Mo Club (great burgers)...and I've been gone for five years, so my memory is rusty, but other Griz fans can name others.

In Bozeman...granted, I've never lived there, but the only places I've eaten that I've really been impressed by were The Bay (which was good, but not as good as, say, the Depot), and Sir Scott's (which to this day is still my favorite prime rib place anywhere, even after trying the "best" prime rib places in several major cities). I'm sure those who live there could list more good places, but if you're honest, I doubt you can really say that Missoula "can't compete" in the restaurant department.

Shadows keep is expensive for ****** food. Id rather eat at the Missoula Country Club than the old Mansion. Theire burger places like the desperado, Bodegas, Mo Club are comparable to our burger bobs, Mamma Macs, garage.

I think bozeman has great italian places that missoula lacks (Louies down under and farraros) You just got a jonny carinos we have had one for six years. We lack a good Chineese place like the mustard seed, but we have 3 mexican places 2 family owned. Daves Sushi is amazing!! everything the zoo has plus more.

The one thing missoula doesent have....

I always hated the lack of Italian food when I was in Missoula. Johnny Carino's sucks no matter where it's located. Romeo's is actually pretty good but I wouldn't consider it very upscale. But El Cazador is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been in and I travel extensively for work. Sushi Hanna is excellent. Same goes for Mustard Seed and Taipu's Tiger (only Indian restaurant in the state as I recall).

Fred's isn't just topless unless something's changed over the past couple of years. Not saying that Fred's is great by any means. It's pretty hit and miss.

Not to get too far off topic but come to Tampa if you like strip clubs. I've never been anywhere better than the world-famous Mons Venus in Tampa or Bliss Cabaret in Clearwater. Class acts all the way.
