Music for Weber game

Post by SACCAT » Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:47 am

I thought the Music at the Weber game was alot better still some songs that didn't fit, but over-all a good start.

That sucker-punch of Neil Diamond was not necessary.

I agree, I thought the music really fit well with the game. Still no Evin Groves' "4 The Nation" though.

Really?

It was slightly better, but I still felt like I was listening to Richard Simmons’s "Sweat'n to the Oldies!"

I thought I was having an 80's flashback at the game

Football is not a game but a religion, a metaphysical island of fundamental truth in a highly verbalized, disguised society, a throwback of 30,000 generations of anthropological time. ~Arnold Mandell

I hate to be a Negative Nancy but the music was still terrible. Who plays "It's Magic" when their team scores or makes a big play. I do agree that it has gotten better but we still have a long way to go.

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I'm with you badass, I thought the music was terrible. Neal Diamond - what was that? - and then It's Magic? I'm not complaining though. As long as we keep winning they could pipe in Mary Poppins show tunes. Chim chiminy chim chiminy chim chim charoo ............

But bull riding music would be better

There were times I still felt like I was in an Adam Sandler movie.

Nothing better than good old fashioned 80's rock. Bring on more AC DC. Aerosmith, etc.

And I think this thread illustrates how hard it has got to be to play music at the games because no matter what somebody isn't happy. The whole student section was singing with "Sweet Caroline" and the group on the alumni side was saying "what is this?" The young ones want rap others say no rap. Some want 80s music, others realized that dude's with long hair just aren't cool anymore!

So give the girl credit for doing a good job to at least try to please everyone when she knows that it is impossible.

On that note...do you think she can play some Evin Groves?

I thought it was rediculous. That music sucked. When "It's Magic" was played, I was a little irritated.

For the past two weeks we all chimed in about what we liked and disliked. I find it hard to beleive that clips cannot be played at key moments. They find the button that plays "ole ole ole" when Tyler Lulay touches the ball. (I personally love it, just do it for more key situations)

Sweet Caroline had me shaking my head-but it was funny, everybody around me was singing along with the chorus. So I give a pass on that one.

I was wonder though-did I dream it or did they really play Dust in the Wind by Kansas (or was it some other Kansas song-they all sound like Dust in the Wind to me)? If they did, that's the kind of thing to get a DJ fired!

You definately heard Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. We also were a little confused when that came on, but what can you do.

What was the song that was played after we'd spent our last timeout and Weber had the ball with 5 minutes to go... and we're going to lose and the song was something like "I am so happy..." I lost it. I looked at the guy next to me and said, "why play that?". He said, "who knows".

It was kinda like the cheer squad cheering " we've got the team that can't be beat" and their team is losing by 35. Some common sense in the selection works IMO.

That's it! That song and football should not be in the same venue.

I thought the music was the same. Not much of a change imho. Does the University have a rule about the type of music that can be played?

Whatever. That is possibly one of my favorite songs. Also, the Sweet Caroline song is played during the 7th inning stretch at Fenway, and the whole place sings along. I liked it. I also thought the selection was better. The only song that never needs to be played again is that "Magic" song. Hell, play Magic Man by Heart before you play that again.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Remember HB you can't spell "crap" without "rap".
