Curious if anyone has heard anything yet regarding east side grandstand replacement/expansion? Perhaps way too early since the indoor facility just got built, but I don't want to take the foot off the gas regarding stadium expansion.
You know that "rumor" everyone was wondering about? Full renovation, two levels, and boxes across the top. Will get us close to 30,000...I think.
Vim, you do always seem to know what you are talking about. However, I can’t tell for sure if this post is serious, or if you are using the sarcasm font?
At this point I don't think it's really a rumor anymore. The question to me is not if, but when...

I don't even think its much of a rumor anymore for what its worth. If you talk to anyone in the Athletic Department and/or attached to it in any way, the "big gift" has been centered around east side renovation and expansion since the rumor started. The only thing I (or most fans) didn't really know was how big they were going for. From what I've heard talking to people at two home games, the new plans for the east side lay a foundation where you are looking at a future stadium renovation and expansion where the box seats surround the middle and then more seating runs above them...not just box seats at the top of the one level. The first round of construction may just have box seats at the top like the west side but Leon & Co. know what is coming in the future with the university and program. We might as well get after it now instead of waiting to do it when we "move up" or whatever its going to look in the future with college football. Anyway, its going to be impressive and the $$ are over 50 million...possibly 60 in terms of what the price tag is going to be. A "big gift" will be part of that total.

There you go everyone. Get on the phones and start talking about how you are going to handle the sun and cold in your upper upper level seats on the east side on the 50. Hope the wind isn't coming from the Southwest!

Anybody recall how long it took to build the end zone? Can a new section be completed in one off season?

If I were going to do an announcement on something like this, I'd do it at the Blue and Gold Gala. I believe that's scheduled for October 10?

I'm sure there's a good reason for doing that. What is it?

I would do something like this where I could give as much recognition as possible to the person(s) making it happen, unless they don't want the recognition (and many don't). But even if they don't want the recognition, I'd do it at a time when it would please the largest number of people at once. Since the decline of print media, the best way to get the most bang for your buck is to do it at a live event. Like right before or after the national anthem or whenever the fans have all made it into the stadium. All the media is there to put it out on their forums and get it out on social media. The only drawback from that would be that it might distract from the game and players, but I don't think that would last more than about 15-30 seconds.

I’d be semi-surprised if they announced something right before the start of a game (tight timeframe with all the pre-game videos and other stuff going on), but you never know these days. I’m not sure what the hold up is since Leon said the updated master plan would be unveiled in July. I guess the blue and gold gala would be a good time, but homecoming weekend would be even better. They just showed us the rendering of the new hotel this week.

Well, no announcement today, so either Tomcat is correct and it will be announced during the pre-game tomorrow or blueandgoldblitz is correct and it will be announced during the gala or it will be announced at some completely random time in the future.

Well, no announcement today, so either Tomcat is correct and it will be announced during the pre-game tomorrow or blueandgoldblitz is correct and it will be announced during the gala or it will be announced at some completely random time in the future.
I just hope there is an announcement. Is there actual fire generating all this smoke? Time will tell.
Leon did NOT announce it at the Presidents Homecoming Breakfast yesterday…. but he did show a slide of athletic department topics. He did say an announcement would be coming out on a new facilities master plan. On his slide of athletics department needs the first item on the top of the slide referenced the East stands and more seating in the North end. I don’t know if the placement of that bullet represents its priority. And he did not say when the announcement would be made.

I just hope they do it before Eweu redo their stadium. :-^
With what money?

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Patience. You’ll hear soon enough and you’ll be excited.
