I think Newell finished off the drive.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 11:41 amChad absolutely crushed his hand that game as well. Why did Rob Ash get fired? These two played in ONE playoff game: 2014 against SDSU in the blizzard and Prukop on one leg.![]()

Just too bad the Murray situation didn’t work out…can’t remember if he had one or two years remaining when he became ineligible, but he was improving as a passer, and was a better passer than Troy and more of a threat with the ball than Rovig. If things would’ve worked out, not saying we would’ve been title contenders but would’ve won more games and thus would’ve put us away from Fargo in those years in the second round of the playoffs. Just the thought of Murray ifanse and Troy in the backfield or even just Murray and ifanse with Troy helping the defense in those years and sprinkling him in on offense would’ve been some better games to watch during those years.catatac wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 2:31 pmAre you thinking this one?TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 12:26 pmOne of my favorite plays in MSU history was in the 2016 Cat-Griz game when Newell, Brekke and LaSane were all line up in the backfield and the ball went to LaSane, while Brekke and Newell threw great blocks to spring him, and then he ran over a DB and got the ball inside the five. Murray was an incredible athlete who was improving as a passer. That said, he struggled reading defenses, remembering play calls and was a total wildcard....much of the time the coaches had no idea what he was going to do. His play drove Choate absolutely crazy.jgrilley406 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 2:44 pmJust too bad the Murray situation didn’t work out…can’t remember if he had one or two years remaining when he became ineligible, but he was improving as a passer, and was a better passer than Troy and more of a threat with the ball than Rovig. That’s my takeaway as well. ISU wasn’t any worse than a few previous opponents that MSU didn’t do that to. Encouraging development for the Bobcats.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Adam Jones was incredibly patient yesterday. His vision and acceleration was the best it has been all season. Coupled with the amazing performance by the offensive line, the all conference level Julius Davis, the tough and multifaceted Lamson, it will be hard for anyone to stop our run game.

Re: RTDB?
We’ll be a very dangerous offense if we can consistently run the ball like that!! Well done DonJoy, Adam and Julius in particular!!

Re: RTDB?
We’ve been a good rushing offense before the game yesterday, but we hadn’t shown as much of the MONTANA STATE run game. Yesterday was more of the latter. Awesome to see that is still there for us, and will continue to improve. That’s gonna make this offense tough to deal with.

Not on Saturday they weren't!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 11:30 amGood question. Probably not this weekend. ISU is good against the run.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 11:21 amWe're halfway through the season (how did that happen?) and we still haven't had a 100 yard rusher yet or a 300 yard team total game.
The closest we've come is Lamson's 96 yard effort against SDSU that included 3 sacks to pull him back below the century mark. Besides that Davis has games of 83 and 76 but nobody else has even reached 75 yards. We're clearly a different offense due to Sterbick calling plays and our OL strength being pass blocking over run blocking but it's shocking that besides the EWU shellacking the next best rushing game was 233 against Mercyhurst.
When do you think we'll eclipse either of the 100/300 marks?
Is this the new way to beat the XDSUs?

How do you factor in strength of schedule to those statistical categories?TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 9:03 amEven less far off when you remove the Oregon game. RB's would be 5.9 ypc. Including all runners MSU would lead the BSC with 230 per game, which is 27.8 more than the next best running team. MSU would be at 5.7 ypc, which is just. 0.1 behind ISU, which had a 27-281 game (10.4) average against Lincoln.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 1:32 pmRunning backs through 6 games (5.6 ypc in total):coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 11:21 amWe're halfway through the season (how did that happen?) and we still haven't had a 100 yard rusher yet or a 300 yard team total game.

Julius Davis - 51 carries for 327 yards (6.4 ypc)
Adam Jones - 59 carries for 242 yards (4.1 ypc)
Colson Coon - 21 carries for 183 yards (8.7 ypc)
Jared White - 19 carries for 88 yards (4.6 ypc)
George Helms - 2 carries for 10 yards (5 ypc)
Last year our RBs finished the season at a collective 6.35 ypc so we aren't that far off from the productivity of last season. The difference obviously is Tommy who averaged over 8 ypc his final two seasons at MSU. Lamson is currently at 3.5 which is just fine for a normal QB.
When you consider strength of schedule, MSU is No. 1 in almost every major statistical category on offense and defense in the BSC. And several of them aren't even remotely close.

Why not? Maybe MSU was just that good. I know you’re kidding but it just seems like when MSU does something well it’s because the other team sucks.rfischer94 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 6:14 pmNot on Saturday they weren't!TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 11:30 amGood question. Re: RTDB?
In MSU’s case you don’t really need to since they’re leading almost every statistical category in the BSC. The ones that they don’t lead they would be leading if they didn’t play Oregon.rfischer94 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 6:17 pmHow do you factor in strength of schedule to those statistical categories?TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 9:03 amEven less far off when you remove the Oregon game.
