Was just at YC this week talking to a billionaire for professional reasons (because that is the sort of person who is a member at the YC)-- It is a different world to be sure than the rest of us live in, but that is reality. I know a few members there who are totally solid people-- they just have the kind of money that makes things possible that the rest of us could not dream of.

YC does have a community fund, but there is no way that institutionally they would be giving the kind of money. If there's any truth to the rumor at all, it is going to be $ from a member's individual funds.

I think this is great if it happens. I would love to see the YC folks and other wealthy landowners here investing more in the local community and the university and developing closer ties here, rather than just viewing MT as a playground. And if the $ amount is really significant enough to finance a substantial upgrade, I'd have no problem with re-naming the stadium. Virtually every significant program does this.

In fact, I'd always assumed that they had been keeping the Bobcat Stadium name precisely because they were waiting for that whale of a donor to come by.

1. Literally no one on here has any shred of evidence or a damn clue about this (aside from potentially Colter). There is no reason tog et all spun up about something that is completely uncorroborated.
2. If someone or some organization wants to give a ton of money to the program (outside of ISIS, the cartels or Hamas), there isn't a damn thing that any of us can do to stop them.

The wealthy are concerned about legacy and impact. We poors are concerned about dumb stuff like this.

I’m not too sure about this. If they were trying to keep this information under wraps, why leak it to a member of the media ? Any announcement will probably be scheduled for April 1st.

who owns property in Livingston and has ties to the NFL. I’ll leave it there and let all you MSU grads figure it out if it’s true. I’m guessing it is..and it involves stadium expansion!

Okay, so why is the YC shady, corrupt, and a crappy organization? Why are they considered the devil?

Embezzlement, improper use of funds, illegal employment practices, improper and illegal payroll practices. Had millions of gallons of crap leak into the Gallatin because they refused to install a real sewage system. Liquor license violations, followed by the hiding of and illegal sales of liquor when licenses were suspended.

Isnt that par for the course?

Montana voted for a guy whose done all that by a 60-40 margin.

Why on earth would it be fine for our President but not our football stadium?

(Note: I don't think Trump has even been held liable in a court of law for water quality violations in the Gallatin River. But my point stands on every single other issue noted here)

As much as I dislike out of state interests buying up property in my home Paradise Valley, he's actually been an amazing steward of the land and a good neighbor. He's kept the land he's bought under traditional agricultural production and promotes hunting and recreational use of his land. He owns Dome Mountain Ranch, Mountain Sky Guest Ranch, West Creek Ranch, and Paradise Valley Ranch. PVR was formerly owned by The Cargill family, bordering my family's ranch and the Cargill's were comparatively bad neighbors. All properties listed above are in the Paradise Valley. Best part is, none of them are owned by The Wilkes Brothers, Ted Turner, or the radical American Prairie Reserve.

Back when they still owned the Paradise Valley Pop Stand, Arthur's wife actually bussed tables there! Pretty uncommon to see that level of humbleness from someone so well off.

I wholeheartedly agree with the above sentiment. Mr. Blank has been an amazing philanthropist in Montana, from his efforts assisting Montana in responding to covid to his support for many local nonprofit organizations. He has opened his properties to organizations seeking space for meetings and retreats. A donation and partnership with the Blank family would be highly beneficial.

I'm surprised about thr Cargills. I've met the sister who owns a Bozeman business and over 75% of a block in Bozeman and she's pretty nice I'd say.

I've heard nothing but good from people that have done construction on Blank's property.
