Only 12 votes per team. Although 10 points split between two votes doesn't make sense, so your point is good.iaafan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:16 pmThe coach poll doesn’t make sense. Assuming 13 points for a first place vote and 1 point for last, then how does EWU only have 140? Ten firsts is 130. That means they only got 10 points on the other three votes, which means none of the other voters picked them above sixth. No way. You have to give them third at least.
Also, if whoever voted UM first had put them fifth, which is where they belong, then MSU would be fourth. But who cares.

Ten firsts total 120 and the other two total 20.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Re: 2019 Polls
For what its worth, I will be posting in a separate thread again this year, the College Sports Madness Top 44 count-down. I know these are a little light, however they do have somewhat factual information on each team with regards to returning starters and key losses.

How in the world could anybody give the Griz a number 1 vote? Half their own fan base is concerned they won’t make the playoffs this year. Coupled with their schedule this year and strength of other Big Sky favorites, winning the conference is highly unlikely.

Both of Montana's first-place votes came from Montana State.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 6:05 pmHow in the world could anybody give the Griz a number 1 vote? Re: 2019 Polls
Has there ever been a player's poll?
Each team in the Big Sky sends a couple of players to the preseason event. Could there be a poll done with these players and have a preseason players poll? I think it would be interesting to see who the players pick as the favorite to win the conference. (And of course they would not be allowed to pick their own team.)
Any thoughts on this idea?

Re: 2019 Polls
There always seems to be a surprise team in the Big Sky. One much better than picked and one much worse than picked. Who do you think those teams will be this year? I think a good definition of a surprise would be to finish 4 or more spots above or below preseason predictions.Hawks86 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:03 am2019 Big Sky Football Preseason Polls
Coaches Poll
1. Eastern Washington (10) – 140
2. UC Davis (2) - 127
3. Weber State - 124
4. Montana (1) - 104
5. Montana State - 100
6. Northern Arizona - 88
7. Idaho State - 72
8. Idaho - 65
9. Cal Poly - 56
10. Portland State - 42
11. Sacramento State - 40
12. Southern Utah - 38
13. Northern Colorado - 19

Media Poll
1. Eastern Washington – 536 (25)
2. UC Davis – 510 (13)
3. Weber State – 472 (4)
4. Montana State - 417
5. Montana – 396 (1)
6. Northern Arizona - 302
7. Idaho State - 285
8. Idaho - 248
9. Cal Poly - 196
10. Portland State - 178
11. Southern Utah - 160
12. Sacramento State - 125
13. Northern Colorado - 90
First for the surprise underperform: UC Davis, why? Eastern is too consistent to fall very far, Weber is getting to that same spot, would love to pick the Griz but I just can't see them finishing ninth or worse and there is no way I pick the Cats, so that leaves UC Davis. No one will overlook them this year and they are perhaps just a key injury away from dropping off. Not an easy decision but there it is.
The surprise outperform: Cal Poly, why? Again by elimination NAU, ISU, and UI not good enough to get out of the middle of the pack. Either SUU or PSU could surprise again like a couple years ago but I think that was just a fluke, not likely to be repeated. I think that Poly with there unique offense and strong tradition has the best shot of jumping into the top half of the league.
I love summer but I'm really starting to be ready for fall and football!

I'll play because this time of year is always filled with great anticipation for me. I'm going to agree with you to a certain extent, except I think it'll be EWU who falls significantly rather than Davis.Long Time Cat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 9:45 amThere always seems to be a surprise team in the Big Sky. I think SAC, Idaho and PSU are all going to fare much better than the prognosticators have them placed. Much better in fact and I think the Griz win all those close games they lost last year. I really like the Griz kicker to win at least two games for them this year...I think they are the most improved team based upon...weight room rumors...

I remember seeing Bill Lamberty as the voter on the national poll, I'd guess he's the guy on the BSC poll.

Re: 2019 Polls
I think MSU's coaches love playing the underdog/disrespect card so much that they're willing to vote that way. Just so they can say "hey, we've beaten those guys three years in a row but they're still getting the recognition".Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 6:41 pmWow. Why would they do that? Obviously this is premature, but if our season did play out that way, wow.
