pregame rituals as a fan
So, what pre-game rituals do you observe before Bobcat games?
I have mandatory day before and day of shirts.
Must be something better out there...come on share with us.

I am fortunate enough to have a cabin in the north end of the Crazies and on Friday we leave Billings with our 3 year old Grandson and spend the night at the cabin. On Saturday morning my Grandson says "its game day Grandpa" and we jump on the 4 wheeler and hang the Bobcat flag on the gate post.
We have a nice drive through the Bridgers, meet our Grandson's parents for a little tailgating, enjoy the game. Then a beautiful drive back through the Bridgers to a nice dinner, without the Grandson, at the cabin.

For the past two games I have hiked up to the "M" wearing my blue and gold, gathered some rocks and returned them to the M and finally I stand at the very top of the M and sing the fight song as loud as possible. On game day I play the fight song as soon as I get up on my computer very loud, even if my roomate is sleeping. After reading the about the cats in the sports section I start painting around 10:00. Then it's off to the stadium. GO CATS!

The whole family (especially the two grade school girls) loads up the family truckster. Then we come inside for the "Game Day Dance", which is when we all dance around the living room during the intro for ESPN College Gameday. We then leave for Bozeman.
I wear my 2002 Big Sky Champs T-Shirt, with my MSU FB Hat (I went back to these items of apparrel after my new stuff for this year only worked at Colorado). My wife and kids dress weather appropriate in MSU clothing/sweatshirts/winter coats/hats
We then drive to Bozeman, after stopping at the Three Forks Town Pump for a Pizza Burrito.
Tailgate at our vehicle on the booster side, with my large flag and flagpole, before hitting a few select student side tailgates.
One requirement - I MUST HAVE a beer in my hand at least two hours before game time.
I think I have warped my family.

I think I scared some of the folks in Glasgow last weekend when I was cheering at the screen (I kind of forget that I'm not at the actual game sometimes). Vocal cords are definitely in better shape then before the season which is good with wrestling season coming up next.Egg Salad wrote:I test out my vocal chords by yelling at the TV, because I usually watch the first part of the Gopher's game before I head over to the tailgate.

Same here! I wake up and instantly the fact that it's game day pops into my head and I'm done for.SACCAT wrote:Day before, wear same shirt every Friday, eat same meal for dinner (that Meal has changed 3 times this year.)

Every game day I wake up at around 6:30 with the feeling of excited fervor. After a cup of coffee to calm my nerves and a caramel roll to fill my stomach, I like to imbibe in a couple of Rolling Rocks. Then, my friends and I like to play "Pin-the-nose" onto a life-size picture of Bobby Hauck. After that the stereo gets pumped up with some "Rocky" soundtrack music played to re-runs of Junior Adams making "The Catch and Run" in the snow in Missoula and Cory Smith taking the ball back to the house on the opening kickoff. I then turn on the TV, mute the volume, and turn up Kris Attebury for the game. So far with this ritual, the Cats have yet to lose.

Well, I get up when I get up, and get dressed in the following "lucky" clothes.
1. Gray MSU football t-shirt.
2. Blue jeans
3. Lucky green colored underwear (I'm sure that's more than you want to know, but everything I wear is clean.)
4. whatever clothes necessary for weather
Last year, it was a white Bobcat shirt, tan pants, and red underwear. Every year seems to change the lucky clothes for a while.
And then I go up to visit my grandpa's brother's tailgate. Unfortunately, my grandparents have gone south for the winter and the motorhome for the tailgate has been put away. I'll have to find a new one. Then I go in, sit and watch some warmups, and I'm ready for the game. There's a pregame ritual.

BTW, does anyone else miss the Booster Breakfasts? I don't know how many years (many) that Booster Breakfast started my game day. Nothing like dragging your butt out of bed after a long Friday night, showering, putting on the Blue & Gold and heading to breakfast at 6:30 a.m. After some rah-rah and a full belly not much to do until tail gate time except head for the Cannery or the Legion. Did make for a real long day though- think that's why they invented tv & NFL Sunday.

Pretty much get up and try to kill time before kickoff. It has helped that my kids are playing FB now, and that gives me something else to cheer for on Saturdays.
BTW - time goes a lot faster if the Cats are home, and you are at the tailgate - BTW.
I almost go nuts waiting for those away night games.

Okay this is silly, but I always have to buy a pack of those minny waxy chocolate donuts before driving on my way over from Billings to the game. Since I have been doing that the last 2-3 years we have a really really good home record (took a hit early in this year though and I was actually thinking of switching to powdered kind
). However it is still minny chocolate donuts on drive up

Slightly different Game Day experience when you're 360 miles away with a son playing high school football, as Barechest may attest from last week. But last week was COOL!!
- Wake up at 7:00 with a cup of coffee and watch Sports Center and the first half hour of College Game Day on ESPN. (Usually watch the whole 2 hours, but we had a football game to go to.)
- Caravan to Malta with Barechest and his family to watch our Freshman DEMOLISH the Mustangs, 45-20.
- Return home to the the golf course clubhouse at 1:00, order my first "bucket of beer", and watch the Grizzlies almost get upset by NAU. I kind of enjoy watching these games in a mixed crowd, which must make me weird I guess!
- Head to the Cottonwood Inn, (Bobcat Headquarters) at 4:00 for a long-distance tailgate with about 30 boosters and fans. Pulled pork sandwiches and trimmings, and numerous snacks throughout the game.
- Several beers consumed by all as the Cats build a 21 point lead, which is good because I really didn't see much of the second half. Wife pours me in bed by 10:00, but not a bad 9 hour shift!!
- Sunday, 18 holes of golf with my Bud's on a beautiful Fall morning to clear my head.
Couldn't ask for a better weekend without actually being in Bozeman!!
