A friend told me this late last week and now Scout.com is also reporting it. It appears that Binford has got her second recruit from the state of Washington. Sarah Strand a 6-2 forward from King's high school in Seattle commited to the Bobcats last week. She can shoot from 3 point land, bring the ball up the court, and post up. She is known for here work ethic. Here is a little I posted on her before.

Denver, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Harvard, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Washinton State were all recruiting her.

That's a nice pickup. A lot of teams looked like they wanted her, and we won this recruiting task. I have got to say that Binford's recruiting so far has really helped to take the right step toward rebuilding the women's basketball program. Way to go.

I like the way Binford goes about her business! There is no reason the Lady Cats shouldn't contend for the conference title every year and I think she is going to git'r dunnnnnn!

By the way I do not think Binford has a lot of scholarships available this year. It appears that she will have three by counting seniors. So she may be after one more -assuming she does not already have a third commit. It appears she is going after big girls, but the type that can run the floor and play multiple possitions.

I really am getting the feeling that she is going to have this program turned around in no time.

Not to bring up a Griz player, but she sounds like Hollie Tyler, with her ability to post up and shoot the three. Man, do we miss our "three point shooting center." Good get Cats, Binford really seems to be turning your program around.

I am not sure Tyler is a good comparison. From what I have read she might be a more of a Joana Clausen (excuse me if I destroyed the spelling of her name) . I believe Strand is more of a forward that a center.

You are probably right, MslaCat, I was just comparing height and shooting ability.

After reading and reflecting on this (and after finishing my Civil War history paper) a Hollie Tyler-like player is needed badly here. The ladies team has not had an extremely strong post presence since Isabel Stubbs graduated. I'm not trying to disrespect any of the players that have filled the spot since, but a strong presence in the post is really needed in women's basketball. Or in any type of basketball for that matter. I have the feeling that the women's team will show great improvement this year and I'm really looking forward to see what they can do this season.

I have watched Sarah for years, she is the real deal. Her high school team has two consecutive state titles and is looking at a third this year. There are a few photos on

I think Hoeffer is more of a Holly Tyler type...but of course it looks like she will be on the IR for the season.
