What??? Have the cats won any playoff games in the past 4 years? Have you played for any national championship during this period? How does your win/loss percentage compare to ours? Your program has not been as good as ours over the past 4 your years.gtapp wrote: It is hard to compete with that and I think it is a huge recruiting advantage. Kramer has built a program that has been as good or better for four straight years. Just think what he could do if we had the facilities and fan support they have.
For the cats, it all falls back to, we beat the GRIZ this year, our program is as good as theirs. One game a year does not a season make!
And by the way, if the cats had a stadium like ours, with the exception of one game every other year, it would consistently be more than half empty.
The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

And, if you had our stadium it would be consistently three quarters full... so lets trade.Eastcoastgriz wrote:What??? Have the cats won any playoff games in the past 4 years? So you think that Cats were "as good or better" than the Griz in 2004, even though the Griz thoroughly manhandled the Cats head-to-head and made it to the title game that year? Nice.gtapp wrote:The article could have been a lot better if he did not try and cut down other schools (not just MSU) and he didn't come across like an amazing asshole. When he stuck to facts the writing was OK and he does have a point. Lets face it, the atmosphere in missoula (in the stadium) is as good as it gets at the 1-AA level. They have the stadium, the noise, the jumbo-tron and they have the fan support. They even have a much better mascot. We could never sell almost 24K tickets even for a Cat/griz game. It is hard to compete with that and I think it is a huge recruiting advantage. Kramer has built a program that has been as good or better for four straight years. PS. By fan support I do not mean the level of support. I am just talking sheer numbers here.

You would still be a sub .500 team, in a must win situation at the end of the season so that you could be CO-champions to receive the auto bid. It has everything to do about Kramer, just look at his record at EWU.

The article is really "school newspaper" level of writing if you ask me.
It was supposed to be about the stadium celebrating 20 years, and for that stadium, it should be celebrated... this article did not do justice to the enviroment in Missoula and what has been built over there for the last 20 years.
Then to jump on the Cats in the end... what???? Sounds like Greg had too much fun on Saturday and was pressing to get this article in on time and didnt put much effort into it. He's probably had that article sitting on his computer for the last month and was waiting for that one all important Bobby quote to add to it to make the article complete. Very school newspaper type article, high school newspaper type article, very amatuer writing if you ask me.

Where did he "jump on the Cats"? Saying we are way behind them? He probably said that because we are. Let's get 9,000 more asses in the seats, then we can complain about him.Cat Pride wrote:The article is really "school newspaper" level of writing if you ask me.

Why does he even have to mention the Cats at all? We have a great stadium, we have great atmosphere - especially for I-AA... in an article that is supposed to be about Wa-Griz stadium, why must he turn it into "Montana State? Forget it. The Cats are eons away from scaring up anything like this."Egg Salad wrote:Where did he "jump on the Cats"? Saying we are way behind them? He probably said that because we are. I read the whole article thinking, this is the best that they can do for a stadium of this nature at this level? Then I read that quote, and WHAT the hell is that supposed to mean?
I do not deny that UM has a better football environment and game day experience than MSU has... I dont think anyone would argue that, Racac's statement is just another "rub their nose in it" thing by a pompus Griz. Is the article about Wa-Griz stadium or about the Cats being eons away from Wa-Griz atmosphere? Why even bring that up? How about bring up someone in I-AA who actually is eons away like Sac St, PSU, UNC (and that is just in our conference).

It's kind of a compliment really. As good as the Cats are when it comes to stadium atmosphere, the Griz are better. I'm not taking a dig at Cats fans. Pound for pound, we have the better fans, no doubt. (Release the Bobcat Nation hounds!) Fact is, they have more pounds.

Then they can put an AP article in instead. Just like the one that called us the MSU Bears.HelenaCat95 wrote:Cats should pull the Gazette Press Passes for a week. If they like WA-Griz so much, then they can watch the Cat games from "eons away".

First, please stop referring to it as an "article". It was not a news article; it was a column, and the columnist put his opinions into it. That's what they are paid to do.
Second, I agree with eggsalad. It was a backhanded compliment. The columnist was trying to support his argument that no one has facilities or an environment like Montana's and he used MSU's to say, "Not even MSU is even close". The reason he did that is because yours is 2nd best in the BSC, and that supported his argument better than saying, "UM's is better than Sac's". Hell, everyone knows that.

I have a feeling that the intent was not to pay MSU a backhanded compliment. Just a hunch. If that was indeed the case, then this guy is one terrible writer, because that's certainly not how it reads.GrizinWashington wrote:First, please stop referring to it as an "article".
