Where Was Groves?
Does anyone know? I am sure it is just part of the offensive genius known as Don f***ing Bailey.

Kramer admitted in the Post Game TV interview that it was his fault for screwing up the defense in the second half. I heard Chris Bach say that Kramer wanted to see more running in the second half. I guess that that is what he was looking for, however; where the heck was Groves? Is he still not 100%? Was it just gamesmanship to make SSU gameplan for him?
What the hell are we doing with the dink and dunk (when their DE got the batted ball and pick) when we have been cramming it down their throat? BAILEY
Ugly win

Do you mean that he said it was his fault for screwing up the offense?94VegasCat wrote:Kramer admitted in the Post Game TV interview that it was his fault for screwing up the defense in the second half. I honestly think that Groves said or did something that ticked Kramer and/or Bailey off, so they benched him (he was walking behind Kramer on the sidelines in his pads so he was ready to play). There is NO reason that he shouldn't have played if he was healthy. Some reporter should ask the hard question, "Why didn't you play Groves."

Could you imagine Byers and Heller convincing Andy Mach to ask Kramer this question...only to later tell Andy his seating assignment on the plane was next the the Big Human?G.W.Bush wrote:I honestly think that Groves said or did something that ticked Kramer and/or Bailey off, so they benched him (he was walking behind Kramer on the sidelines in his pads so he was ready to play). You might have a valid point here G.W. as I was wondering the same thing last night. A couple of times they panned on Groves during the game and it appeared that he wasn't pouting on the sideline. But, it was curious.G.W.Bush wrote:I honestly think that Groves said or did something that ticked Kramer and/or Bailey off, so they benched him (he was walking behind Kramer on the sidelines in his pads so he was ready to play). I'll make sure to ask on Tuesday.

I agree with keeping him on the bench as well. I think a bunch of us will agree with that. We all just had high hopes of seeing the GRIZZLY KILLER known as Evin Groves.Bay Area Cat wrote:If a guy is iffy coming back from an injury and you have a couple other guys who are getting the job done, it seems reasonable that you not risk hurting him further.
I hope to see Groves getting some carries next week and being back to 100%.

I'd like to see Groves back next week, but I'd almost rather see him come back two weeks from now when the Cats play Weber at home on October 28. The reason I say this is because Holt Arena is no place to try to come back after knee tightness. That turf could realy rip a knee up, and I'd hate to see Groves (or anybody) lost for a year with a blown ACL due to the Astroturf in Holt Arena. I'd be happy to see him next week, though.
GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan!

One thing I will say is that Taito stepped up and had some good tough yards. He was shaky with ball handling early in the season, but he got some good tough yards down the wire. We are stocked with backs for a few years now with Groves, Mason and Taito. We can show a lot of mixed sets because each back is very unique and brings a different element to the offense...we are pretty lucky in that respect.Bay Area Cat wrote:If a guy is iffy coming back from an injury and you have a couple other guys who are getting the job done, it seems reasonable that you not risk hurting him further.

Agreed. No use rushing him back. We all know what Evin can do on the field and he needs to be 100% before getting him back there. We definately have 2 stud RB"s and maybe a 3rd on the way as I was impressed with Taito's toughness last night too. We need a pounding back like Taito as well to soften up the D. It was a very ugly win (when it shouldn't have been close), but hats off to the team for sticking in there and making the plays down the stretch. Sac State would have not been in the game if for a few bad plays/mistakes which are all easily correctable. We need to get that punting down though so it doesn't cost us down the stretch here though. Our defense is TOUGH so don't give their offense gimmies with mistakes like that. It was a win though and we looked very good in the first half.bozbobcat wrote:I'd like to see Groves back next week, but I'd almost rather see him come back two weeks from now when the Cats play Weber at home on October 28. Now leads to maybe the game of the year for us this coming week at Idaho State. The Cats need to come out hungry and get ISU down so we don't have to worry about official controversial type calls late (which seem to happen over there). Get them down and keep them down. This could be the best offense the Cats have played this year so it will DEFINATLY be a challenge for our defense. We need to come hungry this week as ISU can put up the points on the scoreboard in a hurry.

Actually, to go along with your thoughts, I think he was kidnapped just before the game. but to hid the fact, they had someone suit up as him and ran one decoy play, Then the replacement poped off at Kramer, got benched (actually to cover that it wasn't groves.G.W.Bush wrote:I honestly think that Groves said or did something that ticked Kramer and/or Bailey off, so they benched him (he was walking behind Kramer on the sidelines in his pads so he was ready to play). I believe the plan is to hold off on the ransom for a couple of weeks until the UM game, then pay it and have the real Evan run for 200 yards.
But we shouldn't talk this up since it might get to the kidnappers. so lets not bring this up again.
