He stayed to win games and keep the program rolling. It has taken a step back. Now I will say this, we have a ton of young talent and with good coaching we will be really really good in a year or two. If he stays we win the championship just not this year. BUT he has to stay and keep that talent. Defense is really really good. We have playmakers on the offensive side, Oline took a step back this year

College overtime has gone from unwatchable to beyond unwatchable with the new rules

By far the worst OT in sports. Just trash.

People say some crazy things on this thread, but college football OT is far and away the best OT rule in any sport any division.

Its an order of magnitude better than any other sport.

Going to be a long year if the O-line can’t figure it out. SDSU was getting lots of pressure with only 4 guys. I don’t know how we ended with 200+ rushing yards. Our run game seemed inefficient, until the OT. I’m not sure if it was the play calling or the qb deciding to run way too often.

The defense played really well. That is a promising sign. A few really dumb penalties, 12 men on the field?!?

Guesses on how far we fall in the rankings?

College OT is fundamentally a completely different format than the rest of the game. You're completely changing the rules of the game.
It's a different game altogether.
You're starting at the 25 without doing anything to earn getting there. First OT is basically guaranteed 3 points without even moving the ball. That's not football.

Those plays really only work with Tommy. I know Lamson is quick but Tommy he is not.

This board is nuts. 2 natty appearances. Oklahoma State showed everyone how dominant Oregon is and we just lost a tight game against one of the premier programs in FCS. It’s amazing how much perspective some Cat fans have lost. We all want to win but I’m willing to bet that a lot of you look foolish at the end of the season.

We literally graduated one of the most dynamic players in program history and are still competing with the top of the FCS. Vigen is a stud.

It’s not just because of Tommy, that was a terrible offensive scheme against a playoff team. We will win lots of games, we will host playoff games and possibly still have a first round bye. We are a very good team, our defense is gritty and will improve with reps. Offense play calling is not up to the previous years under Vigen. I’m having Ash offense flashbacks

A long time ago, teams started on the 15 and there was no requirement to go for two. You really wouldn’t have liked that.

22 rushes for 116 yards (excluding QB runs & sacks).

Thats well over 5 yards per carry.

Theres no world in which it's OK to have Lamson run 22 times. Some of those are scrambles & some are sacks, but theres still double digit designed QB carries for a guy thats fine, not great as a runner. Theres ZERO excuse for ANY OC to have a QB like Samson have more designed runs than the best RB in the Big Sky. Beyond unacceptable play calling. But thats on the OC, not on the O-Line. Jones needs 20+ carries. Terrible play calling.

Lamson had a terrible game. 4.4 yards per attempt? Ugh. 2 fumbles? Ugh.

Punt team is beyond terrible. Did someone count 3 blocks in 2 games? How many procedure penalties on punts? And the shank giving the Wabbits a 40 yard field in the 4th quarter (after a false start) can't happen.

O-line isn't the problem right now. Problems are that Lamson had a bad game, play calling was bush league, and special teams are worse than the Hawks or Raptors.

Looks like I’m on the fire Vigen train again. It looked like he learned lessons and made improvements last year. Looks like I miss judged that one. Had no expectations against Oregon but this was a world class leg wetting.
