Tomcat is on some type of runner. Usually good poster, acknowledges when he doesn't have expertise, but he just can't seem to let this disagreement go. Not sure if it's personal or he just thinks he's funny trying to troll. But he the last guy I would expect to derail a thread like this. I can’t imagine Colter doing something like this.

On the Bruggman discourse, people on both sides are totally overlooking the most relevant aspect of his career.
He's a contributor to the most hilarious piece of sports content ever written:

On its own, this is reason enough for any self-respecting Bobcat fan to put some respect on his name. You don't just ignore someone's involvement in a masterpiece.
But yeah, he was cheeks on the field before, during, and after his MSU tenure.

I knew if I listed off all the good starting quarterbacks at MSU over the last 15 years in a disguised attempt to relieve the angst here and then sneak in the other two during that span and politely say that they didn’t suck instead of just leaving them out of the discussion, that it would trigger this board. I knew it would ultimately lead to everyone being worried that this board sounds like eGriz. Just call me SkankHunt42 from now on. Will you take me into the woods for a gaming retreat, then take my devices and smash them before burying them in the ground. Then realize it was Gerald Brovlofski all along?

Objectively, against his peers - he sucked.
He was at 47% completion and got benched for a 17year old that could cut and run.
I’ll say again, compared to his qb peers, he objectively sucked while playing college football games. Probably a super nice guy and could throw the hell out of the ball in 7v7, just wasn’t a college qb.
Different era, different game, different rules. It’s not comparable.
I’m 62. I know. Whenever someone talks about QB stats I think of Namath and his horrible stats and how incredibly overrated he was.
Another guy people thought was good is Archie Manning: 125 TDs 173 interceptions.

And didn’t you attack Tom before for something trivial? I can’t recall the details, but you went off shift for a comment Tom made because of his background as a reporter. Much like most of your trash, you made it personal.

Me after checking this thread only to see that it has moved on from Tyler Bruggman to random NFL quarterbacks from the 1970s:

I do like to point out the good things players do even if the bad outweighs the good. I don't say players that aren't developing into good players suck very often, if ever. That's an incredibly mean thing to do. It's punching down. It's like making fun of someone who has a speech impediment. If you want to say someone sucks save it for the pros, at least. Or good players. If Tommy Mellott sucked for one game or one series of plays, then it might be okay to say he sucked. He knows he doesn't suck but probably agrees when he does for a game, or a play or two.

Re: Any Portal News Yet
Bruggeman had the same pattern before. He clearly suffered from performance anxiety. Time after time it was reported how good he looked (throwing) in practices, but when Saturday came around he just couldn’t make it happen. I honestly really felt sorry for the guy as he must have been miserable during the week knowing what was to come. As I remember, he started the season with a nice TD drive against Idaho, and then lost it by the next series.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 7:04 amI was never president of his fan club either. He was definitely better than Bruggeman though
