The beauty of ESPN+ if you’re not in Bozeman. We always watch the women’s game first because right now they are the story.tdub wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 8:55 pmYep. She's so fun to watch. They all are for that matter. But its awesome to see the growth she's made from last year to this year is awesome.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:09 am0.3 seconds in the key for Natalie.I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone make a quicker u-turn.
What i really liked is she was calling out the little things sometimes as they happened. That the normal fan doesn't see necessarily. Like Romo does for football games.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:13 amCarla Taylor was a long-time head coach for Weber. She’s a basketball fan, no matter who does well.
Carla Taylor is great, in past years the Big Sky has had her co-host the studio show at the tournament between games and at halftime. I wish they would promote her to the in-game color commentator but I doubt that's likely to happen.lutecat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 4:56 amWhat i really liked is she was calling out the little things sometimes as they happened. Yep…over 20 years head coach at Weber as well as playing career at Weber. Over 300 wins and several Big Sky Coach of Year awards. I too liked the little nuisances of the game she sees. I thought this broadcast team was pretty even handed and praised the Cats as well as supporting the home folks.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:13 amCarla Taylor was a long-time head coach for Weber. It was cold due to lack of body heat. It looked like there was literally 100 people at that game on TV. I feel bad for the Weber women's team, that must be a bit demoralizing, especially when the top team comes to town.
Listed attendance was 313 which definitely included the players, refs, coaches, trainers, scoreboard operator, TV/Radio announcers and any other warm body who was anywhere near the building. The attendance that shocked me last night was that Portland State, third place in the Big Sky, only drew 200 fans for their men's game against NAU. They spent $50 million to renovate the existing gym into an awesome basketball arena and absolutely nobody shows up except for fans of the away teams.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:20 pmIt was cold due to lack of body heat. The beauty of ESPN+ if your are in Bozeman: you can watch the ladies on your phone while attending the Men's game, especially when they do the staggered start times.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 2:38 amThe beauty of ESPN+ if you’re not in Bozeman. I love Coach Bin’s style. So many “great defensive teams” hold the opponent’s score down with a snail-speed offense. These ‘Cats can never be blamed for at least not attempting a high-octane offense. Points per possession is a better measure than score. Last week I think it was N. Colorado that they held to not much more than 0.5 points per possession. That’s crazy good.
I sometimes just sit and watch how they switch screens — it’s a well-choreographed defense. They sometimes get in some mismatches, but it really hurts the effectiveness off on-ball screens which are a mainstay of many teams diet.
They often seem to be rushing their own shots — I wonder if that’s a consequence of playing themselves in practice? If they still have them, how does their men’s scout team do against them?
The Portland State game tipped off early due to an approaching storm. The gametime change was announced with very short notice. Their attendance is low, but not usually that low.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:25 pmListed attendance was 313 which definitely included the players, refs, coaches, trainers, scoreboard operator, TV/Radio announcers and any other warm body who was anywhere near the building. Gotcha, that makes sense. I wasn't aware that the start time was changed. Still kind of sad to see that arena so empty, it looks like a great place to watch a game.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 3:11 pmThe Portland State game tipped off early due to an approaching storm. 100 people? You are a generous man! You don’t get to count the teams, refs, and staff.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:20 pmIt was cold due to lack of body heat.
