My ribs hurt for two weeks after that game. I tried to get drunk enough to forget that game forever. Twas the last time I drank to excess. Too old for that amount of pain and suffering.catscat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 10:41 amSeems reasonable not to count 2011 as a loss for Ash but it doesn't count as a win either. He would then be 2-6 with an asterisk. Seems that if um didn't win, MSU didn't lose, but didn't win either. Pretty much like the game never happened.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 8:52 amHauck is 7-6 and Ash is 2-7 unless the 2011 loss comes off his record. The loss in 2011 doesn't come off MSU's record. MSU has been showing UM with 75 wins, while UM shows itself with 74. It's just another screwy thing the NCAA does. A team forfeits a game, but the other team doesn't get the win. That, in turn, just makes it look stupid.Montanabob wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 8:47 amdon't forget, hauk tuah is tied with the most losses in the CAt gris game.

Not that it matters a great deal but if you are including post season stats in the records then you need to increase Don Hass to 3054 career yards rushing. Current shows 2954 because post season stats were not included during those days.
And for the youngsters on the board, Don is the only three year back left on the career rushing records. Perhaps you can argue Troy was a three year offensive player too.
When Don Hass played the freshmen were not allowed to participate in varsity athletics and I have no idea how to get his stats from the freshman team that year. I’m not sure it would have made a big difference in Don’s career because his most powerful years were his junior and senior years….but you never know if he might have “blossomed” earlier or if he had some blowout freshman games. But those last two years were certainly noteworthy as he was recognized as 1st team Big Sky and 1st team All American in consecutive years.

I totally agree. I just take the records/lists off of the msu website and update as we go. I wish they would go back and “adjust” records like the one you mentioned above.BobcatDel wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:48 pmNot that it matters a great deal but if you are including post season stats in the records then you need to increase Don Hass to 3054 career yards rushing. Also, the addition of the extra four games while still allowing players to redshirt is going to skew the stats even further. Comparing statistics across different eras has become increasingly difficult with all the changes over the years.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 3:55 pmI totally agree. Old school RBs used to get more carries per year and per game in general. If the season and career totals are close it’s good to look at yards per carry.

I think Adam is getting close on points for a single season (if receiving TDs count). Also just an observation: Sansted could have been in the conversation for Freshman of the Year. He may leave MSU as the all-time leading points total before it's all done.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 10:42 pmIdaho game updates.

Sansted’s 13 for 17 percentage is .765, which is seventh best for FGs in a season.

@mslacatfan - Could you add total team offense for a season? I know you have yards per game in a season, but it's kind of distortive since 2015 was the #1 year but the Cats didn't even make the playoffs in 2015. I think they finished 5-6. This year, we're significantly north of 5,000 yards gained in a season.

Re: 2024 Record Watch- (post Idaho game)
I greatly appreciate the effort in keeping these records up to date as this is definitely one of the 1st posts I look at after each game. Having a few of these old records broken this year has been an outstanding achievement, not only for the individual but also for his teammates blocking for him. A perfect example is the Bobcat receivers' impressive blocking this year. One old milestone which I witnessed in person was Sam McCollum's 12th TD catch during the last game of the season at Van Winkle field in 1972. He was one of a kind. At that time there were only bleachers on the N side of the field and the other spectators had to stand along the sidelines (outside the team "boxes") and end zones. There may have been 2000-3000 fans at that game.
On another note, I'm watching Colson Coon run and getting vibes I'm watching Steve Kracher, the stud running back from Columbia Falls, who had the same running style, i.e., OK, if you won't let me run around you I'll just run over you. GO CATS!!

On the other hand, one record that I don’t see being broken anytime soon is the stunning 20 sacks in a season by Mark Fellows from Augusta. I was finishing up my 13 yr Bachelor’s at the time and was able to attend every game in 1984. Mark had such a quick 1st step off the line that most offensive lineman didn’t have a chance of stopping him. Granted, the record occurred during the 1984 Championship run when extra playoff games were finally counted. However, when looking at the substitution philosophy for d lineman nowadays, players don’t have near the number of snaps to even come close to this record.

Have we ever had 3 players rush for 1000 yards in one season?
Tommy needs another decent game to be #3 this year.
