Would've liked to see a stronger showing from the defense today but the bottom line is that we won. And the fact that it was close instead of another blowout will probably serve this team well in the long run.

We are definitely are going to be tested at UC Davis. It always feels like teams that come off a bye week tend to struggle. If we can pack the house next week and the defense gets back into their groove, I think we can definitely roll into Davis with some huge momentum. The Brawl is going to be nerve racking, until we have a 20+ point lead.

Will serve them extremely well. Eastern has the offense to stay in the game against anyone in the FCS. Aside from 2021, this has been the best showing of the Cats defense. Losing Danny U was bad. Of course losing anyone is, however, that’s one position we lacked depth at. They seemed to play a bend but don’t break, however, the gashing runs were concerning. We did not bring much pressure, and today, probably for the best. Our defensive front got faked out a few times, bit hard and were punished. I trust they will get this fixed, coming off a bye week is great for the rest, terrible for the flow at times, especially when the next game is on the road, in crappy Cheney, with poor weather, on the most obnoxious field in all sports.

They found a way to win, and got stops in the 2nd half that were badly needed. It certainly had ugly moments and that
4th and 1 call better NEVER happen again, but 9-0 for the first time since 1956 is pretty cool!

I'm old enough to remember when 14 points was considered 'not close'.

Bobcat defense gave up 66 yards on 23 plays in the 4th quarter...when we REALLY needed them to buckle down. That was huge for this unit as they went through the roller coaster today.

That's a cool story but the game was within 7 points until the last 3 or 4 minutes.

Hall finally hits a touch back on his 3rd kickoff.
I haven’t read through this whole thread yet, if someone has already addressed this i apologize, in any case there was a stiff breeze out of the south, that is why Hall was not kicking the ball out of the endzone.

I thought that the most impressive thing MSU did was turn on the defense from about the two minute mark of the third quarter to the end. 22 plays for 65 yards after allowing about 330 on 46 plays prior to that. Went from giving up around 6.8 per play to under 3.0. Home teams seeking upsets are very difficult to derail when they’re on a roll like EWU was. I’m not sure what they’re third quarter numbers were but they were rolling. 139 yards on 19 plays and two TDs.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

MSU had a 75%+ win probability for 45 minutes of the game. The game was close at 28-28 for about 7 seconds with a minute left in the 3rd, after that, EWU never had the ball with a chance to take the lead for the entire 4th.

This was NOT anything resembling a 'close' game.
