That was friggin ridiculous, on both sides. Just looking at the Cats though, that many flags on us is unacceptable. Seems like we're bad at that, more so on the road for some reason. Absolutely need to get that all cleaned up. On a related note, that targeting call sucked. Ty summed it up really well basically by saying it's BS that Dru gets ejected for that "targeting" call but the guy that smashes Taco after he called for a fair catch... gets to keep playing? Bunch of crap.
That should have at the very least been an unsportsmanlike conduct so if he did anything else the rest of the game he's gone. I really really hate when defenders get thrown out for targeting when the offensive player is dropping down. Once you start your approach as a defender you really can't change trajectory midway. I even felt like Dru turned his head specifically not to lead with his helmet. Rule definitely needs to be looked at again.
And Dru has served his penalty in the second half, correct.
If you are asking a question, yes, Dru is gtg next week.
Dru will not be playing this next weekend.
You are technically correct... which is probably the best kind of correct!

Cats are certainly struggling with penalties. National rankings in terms of penalties per game for the top 3:

SDSU - 28th
MSU - 39th
NDSU - 55th

The big thing is though when you look at yards, it gets much worse for the Cats.

SDSU - 42nd
MSU - 69th
NDSU - 53rd

Seems like a lot of ours are of the 10-15 yard variety.

MSU definitely needs to do a much better job of avoiding the targeting penalties. Seems like it's one every game and always a key player too.

I can't remember who, but one DL backup had 2 personal fouls/late hits.

The targeting penalty on Dru… wasn’t. He barely connected with the PSU player. It happened right in front of us and it certainly didn’t look like targeting. Such calls are incredibly frustrating, and must be hell for players and coaches
It barely knocked the PSU player off-stride. Looked like some shoulder contact — Dru turned his head, and did not make any significant contact above the shoulders. If it was targeting — then it was the worst execution I have ever seen. At least knock the guy down.
He most certainly did NOT turn his head. Dry. led with the crown of the helmet directly into the head of the PSU player. It was textbook targeting.

And it wasn't even close.

I think the rule needs to be reworked some, but that was EXACTLY the play that the targeting rule was intended to eject players for.

Daly needs a point of emphasis in practice during the bye week on fundamentals of tackling.

He hits midsection if PSU runner doesn't duck down.

And he most certainly DID turn his head. It was his shoulder pad and side of his helmet that hit the other player's helmet, which is still a penalty by the letter of the rule, but the point we are making is that the rule needs to be addressed because too often the offensive players actions are what really lead to the high hit(i.e. dropping your own head down at the last minute) and there is nothing the defender could have done to avoid hitting where they did.
