It's going to be an off-season of major change. Doesn't necessarily mean they won't be great in 2025. This current senior group was great immediately when they took the team lead as sophomores. It will be sad to see all these great players leave the program, but exciting to watch all the talent in the pipeline get onto the field.
Can either Davis or Uluilakepa redshirt? I was under the impression neither could, however, that would be nice if they could.

Edit: didn’t listen to the cat chat.

I'm not an expert in this stuff. I think that Vigen said Davis could and I believe Danny U could apply for a medical redshirt and see what happens?

FYI...........
In football, for instance, a player can play in up to four regular-season games and still use his redshirt season (the NCAA recently updated this rule to exempt all postseason competition from the four-game policy). Such a rule has not existed for sports like basketball, baseball and all others aside from wrestling.

I believe Danny U(senior), Caden Dowler(sophmore) & Blake Schmidt(senior) have all played in 5 games or more this year, so I don't think they could use their redshirt. Since Julius Davis(senior) hasn't played in any games yet this year, all he'd need to do is sit out one remaining game (@PSU, @EWU, SacSt, @UCD, um)......this weeks game (@PSU) seems like the most likely....easiest opponent & and extra 2 weeks to recover (next week a bye).

Medical redshirt won't be an option for Danny since he played in more than 30% of MSU's games before he was hurt.

I have a ton of friends who are huge SDSU fans and alumni. They are telling me that the QB waiting in the wings for Gronowski to graduate is going to be special.
That may be true, but its a common theme for fans to say exactly that. It's difficult to tell until the new guys gets some real reps with some real adversity.
SDSU has recruited very well.
Yes I know, but recruiting and developing a QB that can play at the level of Gronowski, Miller or Mellott is not a slam dunk even for top FBS teams and coaching staffs.
How many times in a row does NDSU have to do it before it’s a slam dunk? Jensen, Wentz, Stick, Lance, Miller. Last three out of there are in the NFL.

Caden Dowler already used his redshirt his true freshman season.

I think the funniest thing of all of this is realizing that good teams develop good qbs. Seems like BH is unable to do that as he always needs the qb to be perfect instantly… that has sure worked well

I mean Grant Vigan threw how many touchdowns last night to make Gallatin the only remaining undefeated team? Don't discount him.

Grant Vigen threw five touchdown passes last night. I didn’t just post this because I wanted everyone to know how many touchdowns Vigen threw last night. Vigen’s TD passes were secondary. ;) Did I say 'Vigen' enough times there? Vigen, it just kinda rolls off the tongue.

Is Lance still in the NFL on a roster?

After 10+ years of complete dominance of the subdivision recruiting has a lot of options but it still isn't a sure thing, along the way they have tried some other guys that haven't turned out but they have been able to find guys to fit their system.

I don't think Payton is going to be Millers replacement, He is primarily a +1 run QB. Yeah they will have him through but I think its just to keep defense off balance, he is not very successful throwing but will lower the shoulder on a run.

Lance is still with the Cowboys as a backup to Dak Prescott, but he's listed as the 3rd stringer on their depth chart so he may not be there much longer. I have no doubt that NDSU, SDSU, and MSU will all be able to find more than adequate QBs to replace their current seniors. For MSU I'm more concerned about other positions where this year's roster is very senior-heavy.

I seem to remember a couple years ago a lot of people saying Miller couldn't cut it and was quite a step down from past NDSU QBs. I guess actually letting a guy mature and not expecting him to be great right away still pays off from time to time. #hawktuah

It's going to be an off-season of major change. Doesn't necessarily mean they won't be great in 2025. This current senior group was great immediately when they took the team lead as sophomores. It will be sad to see all these great players leave the program, but exciting to watch all the talent in the pipeline get onto the field.
Well now I am depressed
