Turns out MSU only gave the team members, standing room only tickets. They've known about this 40 year reunion for well over a year. Standing room only? Pretty damn weak on MSU.

I heard about this via another path β€” hoped it might only be a rumor. This is unreal, but I guess you needed to be there on that cold, sunny afternoon in 1984 to understand what that meant to a Bobcat. Still the most memorable play in my in-person games. Thank you all, 1984 team, coaches, cheerleaders, managers for an incredible post-season joyride. πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ˜Ί

There was an issue when single-game tickets went on sale where 1984 team members could only get SRO, but that was resolved fairly quickly to provide actual seats.

That is great news! This team gave us so much fun in 1984 β€” no arms race then β€” just more excitement every week as they started to roll. My wife and my dad and I watched the last half of the Fresno State win at the ranch, on a black-and-white, battery-operated 7” TV (whole lotta D-cells) with extra wire wrapped around the rabbit ears. Somebody shake some hands for me.

Well, I know some of them have season tickets. Get the rest of them up in the stadium club. There should also be some room in section 104. I never see that area completely full.

That was probably a better seat than you had at Utah Tech!

1976 was great! I remember going to the airport when the team got back that night. 1984 had its own vibe. Perilously close to being out of D-1AA race early in the season, each game became a stepping stone β€” no more mulligans. Then Fresno State! I think maybe compared to the dreadful season of 1983, it was a miracle just to be winning games. I just remember the excitement building and building, with no expectations. What do you mean, they beat Fresno State? Really. Then the playoff games in Bozeman.

That’s some record, to make all the games from Glasgow! There was still some pop in the winters. Roads must have been horrible a few times. We made all the games from two miles away.

Mike Kramer was an ILB coach on the 1984 team. I would hope Dave Arnold and Kramer are asked to attend also.

I'm sure they were invited. Arnold was at a game a few years back and I believe he went out for the coin toss. I know Arnold has some health issues though, so I'm not sure if he will come or not. Hopefully, Kramer will leave his gris hat at home.

Didn't much care for Rocky Gullickson but he did have alot to do with that championship. I wonder if he was asked to attend?

It's funny, I still have the MSU hoodie and wool pants (it was chilly) I wore to the Rhode Island game in 1984. The hoodie is pretty faded and threadbare now, but I should get it out of storage and see if it still has any luck left in it.

Bought a 1984 Fiero GT and a Fuzz Buster. That fall was actually pretty mild, but I almost wrapped that little car around a bull elk down by Fred Robinson bridge going 110!

That would be hilarious if true!! I think the starters and significant backups, head coach and coordinators should get tix. The scrubs and assistants can wait in the car and have candy bars and pop.

(Just kidding. I know a bunch of the scrubs and assistant coaches so just seeing if they read BCN).

The boys are meeting up at the BAC at 4pm, for a tour of the facilities. Tonight Mike Hope is having a get together at Ponderosa Social Club. Should be a good time. But not like Oly Days being canceled because the football team got out of hand, good time. Ha...
