Taki U. Injury?
Anyone see how that injury happened? I rewatched the game this morning and it looked like he was all by himself and the next thing you see is him laying in the endzone with trainers around him.

Didn't see how it happened, but he wasn't putting much weight on his right leg before or after going into the tent. We lost 3 safeties in 1 quarter last night. Ouch

Stillwell was on the sideline with ice on his foot and crutches after he got toasted for a TD. Brock Steel went down late as well.Pecos24 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:53 pmWho else did we lose? 1st string safeties/nickels when we are 100% healthy:BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 3:32 pmStillwell was on the sideline with ice on his foot and crutches after he got toasted for a TD. Rylan Ortt, Dru Polidore, Caden Dowler, Miles Jackson
Our 2nd string/3rd string (based on who played in the 2nd half last night):
Taki, Stillwell, Brock, Tyson Pottinger, Tayden Gray, Colter Petre
Only Tyson, Tayden, and Colter are healthy right now with the addition of Dru above not being healthy. Here's hoping Rylan, Caden, and Miles stay healthy!

Taki was playing really well. Someone even asked if he was ahead of Danny at this point of his career.

Re: Taki U. Injury?
Injuries happen and a lot of it has to do with luck. For example, JT Reed dealt with a back issue all of last year that held him out for the season. Comes back in 2024 and gears up for fall camp....breaks his hand within the first week of practice. This is why you just cross your fingers and hope we're the healthiest team by the end of the regular season.technoCat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 4:58 pmWhat the heck is going on this year? Happened last year and the year prior. Sucks to start the season day one and a handful of starters are injured for weeks/months.technoCat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 4:58 pmWhat the heck is going on this year? I don't think Vigen mentioned him today so maybe he's good?? Hope so.
Perhaps it was Brock Steel we saw, he suffered a season ending injury unfortunately...

Taki U, Stillwell, and Steel all had an injury in the 4th quarter.

You guys are right it was Taki, I looked up the number.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 1:10 pmTaki U, Stillwell, and Steel all had an injury in the 4th quarter.
But Vigen didn't mention him today so I'm assuming he'll be OK. Sucks for Steel, though.

Re: Taki U. Injury?
Hopefully we can use these next few weeks to get healthy and get some guys back.
Bye week, followed by likely the easiest game the Cats have played in a couple years, then Idaho State who isn’t great but could be solid, then UNC.
So for the next month, we don’t “need” to be at full strength.
Here’s to hoping we get healthy and are something closer to full strength the second half of the season.

Re: Taki U. Injury?
Vigen always holds injuries close to the vest, so it’s hard to say. He didn’t elaborate on the the backup QBs either as I recall. Grace asked and he talked about it. I’m going to go relisten to that. I think people are overreacting to Reed not playing well. Wilson definitely breathed life into things, not that he was great either. Reed’s strip sack is kinda hard to fault him for. A) the pass pro was bad and B) Mellott did the same thing (twice) vs New Mexico.91catAlum wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 1:40 pmYou guys are right it was Taki, I looked up the number.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 1:10 pmTaki U, Stillwell, and Steel all had an injury in the 4th quarter.

The strip sack really wasn’t Reed’s fault. Combination of protection and inexperience. That will happen.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 1:52 pmVigen always holds injuries close to the vest, so it’s hard to say. He didn’t elaborate on the the backup QBs either as I recall. I just think Wilson fits the offense better. Reed has never shown that he can process real quick, or scramble and pass. Wilson showed more in his limited snaps than Reed ever had, imo.

Re: Taki U. Injury?
My take as well. In an offense and/or game plan tailored to a mobile QB, Reed is a square peg in a round hole. As others have observed, Reed would be a solid option to takeover the reins as a starter with a week of practice to install a modified playbook to highlight his strengths and skillsets. If for some reason Tommy has to sit, be it a few plays, a series, or the rest of the game, Wilson would be my pick to replace him. Think about last couple seasons with Big Cat/Little Cat. Outside of the 2022 SDSU semifinal game playing an elite FCS defense on an ice rink where MSU sorely needed Chamber's downhill running ability, it was a seamless transition when one had to sit and the other was "the guy".BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 5:37 pmThe strip sack really wasn’t Reed’s fault. I 100% agree with this. That game is going to be a challenge. But, the way I saw MSU's defense play on the road already, has me confident we can come out of Pokey with a win.WetBreeches wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 2:01 pmDo not underestimate Idaho St at home.
