They play much stiffer competition than most FCS teams. Both would do well in the Pioneer, Patriot, SWAC, MEAC, NEC, which consists of about 50 of the teams in the FCS. Not middle of the road in their own conference, but middle of the road nationally in the FCS is a fairly accurate description. Utah Tech was 2-9 with wins at NAU (50-36) and vs SFA last year. Maine has been down the last couple years, but they're typically a .500 team. They made the playoffs in 2018 and advanced to the semifinals. They're quite capable of being vastly improved over the past two seasons.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 12:37 pmUtah Tech and Maine combined for what, 3-4 wins last year?Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 12:22 pmNot quite the right games…CodyCat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 8:28 amMaine is probably middle of the road. Mercyhurst is really really bad. Very bottom of the FCS. But, Idaho State will be more of a game than you are thinking.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 10:02 pmOur schedule sets up perfect to rest some guys and get them healthy after getting this win.
Two very middle of the road FCS teams that we should beat without needing all hands on deck, followed by a bye week, then followed by probably the worst opponent the Cats have played in a few years.
We have the better part of a month before conference play starts and really need those guys back.
Hope it works out well to get them healthy and 100%.
Next game is Utah Tech, they’re middle of the road FCS
Then Maine, also a middle of the road FCS team.
Then a bye week.
And last non conference game is Mercyhurst who is likely the worst team the Cats have played in years.

Re: Injuries
I don't THINK the Cats sustained any long term injuries Saturday, but I'm not positive on that. Definitely a couple scary moments when we saw Tommy go down, also Woodard, Bryce Grebe, Moore? Any others? If any of these players can't go Saturday it adds to the list of Perkins, Reid, Palidore, Kautzman, Davis, Elliot. That's a lot of studs out of action, and we're still winning pretty big.

Well since the proverbial cat is out of the bag.... my source says johnson broke his hand and is out. I was going to say something earlier but didn't feel it was in good taste to divulge that kind of info in an open forum(don't want to give the opposing team anything).

That's really unfortunate, wish him a speedy recovery. Hopefully we don't need him out there with a club on.BobcatBuiltTexan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 4:24 pmWell since the proverbial cat is out of the bag.... my source says johnson broke his hand and is out. Re: Injuries
Is there a webpage where you can find the team's injury status? It would be nice if someone in the know would post a chart like the one below in this specific chat. Expected to Play column could have a qualifier like "? = best guess" or "! = definitely playing" or "# = hopeful indication."
PLAYER POSITION INJURY EXPECTED TO PLAY NEXT GAME
Mellott QB Leg Cramps Sept 7?
Woodard
Grebe
Moore
Perkins
Reid
Palidore
Kautzman
Davis
Elliot

Re: Injuries
I don't know of one and I doubt it exists. I think about the only thing you can do is follow pressers and media guides closely, and those are pretty easy to find if the school puts it out there. I think last season we had an updated injury list each week in a thread. We might not ever get full transparency about injuries, and I'm all for that since we're dealing with students' personal health information. Sure it's just an ankle or something most of the time, but players have to give coaching staffs permission to disclose that information, otherwise they'll be very opaque about the info.RobertSebastianCat-81 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 5:08 pmIs there a webpage where you can find the team's injury status? Re: Injuries
Dang, that's rough if true, Maybe I read the wrong number and it was him that got hurt rather than Woodard... because it looked like a hand deal. If not, that could be 3 of our best DBs out for this game. Ouch.

Well I don't want to make stuff up but I thought I saw Woodard go down and not sure he came back in... and see he's listed with an OR on the depth chart.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 7:40 pmI’m having a brain fart. Polidore, Johnson, and who?

He came back in. He's been listed with an or several times the last couple seasons. The good news is Andrew Powdrell has been playing lights out.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 8:05 pmWell I don't want to make stuff up but I thought I saw Woodard go down and not sure he came back in... and see he's listed with an OR on the depth chart.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 7:40 pmI’m having a brain fart. Re: Injuries
Adam and Scottre both played the first two drives of the second half, MSU scored on both to go up 24-0. After that neither played again, definitely just resting the starters and not injury related.

Re: Injuries
Personally I don't like seeing guys playing with a club at the skill positions. If there are no better options I kinda get it but I think there is enough depth that isn't a real option. Just my take.Common Cat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 4:43 pmCan he club it? Re: Injuries
Since Taki U isn't on the major injury list, I am less worried. He could barely walk on his own when he came off the field Saturday night.
