June 1. tick tock.
Still hundreds of uncommitted in the portal including LB's, DL, Edge! Cats going to stand pat at these positions? Anyone hearing news about defensive needs to bring the defense up to National Championship standards? Or are the D coaches satisfied?
I would rather see a stud starting LB or DL than a fg kicker. With this offense use the 4 downs to make 10 and go ahead and game plan for that, just score TD's. Hall or Kautzman should be able to make extra points or just go for 2. This is a very talented offense!

Maybe the coaching staff doesn’t like what’s left in the portal. Many of those players moved on from programs because they weren’t getting enough playing time.Cats and Dogs wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 11:50 amJune 1. tick tock.

Re: Off-season Portal additions/losses
From the numbers and the schools represented , it appears talent is still available. Bigger question is if they can be convinced to come to MSU. I'm guessing the D staff would like to pick a couple up to shore up the starting D but again that depends on their assessment of where the defense is at right now and is it good enough to win a Championship? It's basically the same roster from last year minus Valdez, Price, Askelson, just a year older, stronger, faster, etc. Is it good enough?RICO CAT wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 12:04 pmMaybe the coaching staff doesn’t like what’s left in the portal. Re: Off-season Portal additions/losses
Currently, there aren’t any known offers out to defensive transfers. There are two known offers out to WR transfers though. I thought the Cats would go for another experienced linebacker but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Summer works outs are starting up and Fall camp isn’t too far away.Cats and Dogs wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 12:24 pmFrom the numbers and the schools represented , it appears talent is still available. We'll trust in Bobby. Big first year test for him. High expectations for this defense given it's Tommy's last year at the wheel of a NC caliber offense.
Go Cats!

Re: Off-season Portal additions/losses
I think the biggest potential gain defensively for MSU will come from the coaching staff. The change to Daly/Howe (both are in their coaching prime) and the addition of Owens will change the look and attitude (not the good/bad kind) for the Bobcats. Very solid defensive coaching staff all around.Cats and Dogs wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 7:25 pmGood intel! Glad to hear Owens is getting the secondary back in the better tackling formTomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:44 amI think the biggest potential gain defensively for MSU will come from the coaching staff. Despite it being posted to the SI.com site "8 hours ago" I think this story already ran a couple months ago and was just picked up by SI. ???luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 6:13 pmArticle on Seabass if you care.

Kinda hoped he would be that typical Montana high school QB that morphed into a stud safety or LB. I'll probably get to watch him plenty as my nephew is currently a wideout for the Saints.

Seemed he had a hard time staying healthy to get on field and show what he could do.
