Is there a summary somewhere of all the recruits who signed today?
Really good looking class and it looks like a few of these players might be able to contribute VERY early in their careers. Who from this group has a legit shot at NOT redshirting in 2024? Remember, with the rule change, these guys can play in 8 game and still red shirt potentially. 8)

Also, dang, how many Steel kids are there? This new one looks like he might be pretty good. 31 touchdowns in one season seems like a lot.
So they upped it to 8 games played instead of 4?

Three more tight ends? We still have Luke Smith, Hunter Provience, Rylan Schlepp, and Ryan Lonergan on the roster. Is Lonergan done, or does he have a year left?
And Elijah Reynolds.

There will probably be some attrition.

I’m guessing some of these guys will transition to the h-back role. Like snell. So all these TE might not just be the traditional TE position.

The transfer from Maine for example- to me that is an obvious replacement for snell. He is listed at TE though.

I think we are recruiting for an in line Pickering TE and a Snell H-Back style TE. The guy from Maine should fill the snell role.

Why? Seems like his body style is closer to Pickering.

Other than the transfer tight end, I’d say the most likely to play more than four regular season games seems to always be running backs, receivers, and corners. I’d love to see Bowles play but I think he is a year away. Tanupo has a better chance than most at his position since he is already big enough. I bet he does see at least his four games though.

I really hope Kautzman works his butt off and turns the corner kicking for us. We certainly need a K to provide competition but I hope Casey has a strong year next year.
I'm rooting for Casey. He was put in a tough position this season, as I think the coaches were hoping he would have a year or two to develop. I still think he could develop into a good one.
I am too. I think he knows how to kick, just needs a little coaching from a specialist, which will never be on the MSU staff. I might be totally wrong, but kicking seems like something that lots of people know how to do, but it takes something special between the ears to be able to pull it off in crunch time. Plenty of guys can make free throws in practice, but with the game on the line can they hit them? I can hit great drives on the range, but when I have to have one that's when the shanks come out. Don't have to have a guy who can bomb them from 55, but if you have a guy who can hit them under 45 consistently and at important times in the game you're in pretty good shape.
Vigen alluded to this during press conferences but he was very frustrated this year due to the fact Brendan Hall was nearly perfect during practice but then fell apart during games as a place kicker. The feeling was Kautzman didn't have the leg but possibly a better confidence with his game and that proved incorrect as well. It's not as easy as some fans make it out to be. The whole fanbase can be riding on your shoulders prior to a game winning kick. That's a lot for one kid to take sometimes.
Hall *never* looked good out there as a PK to my eyes. Wasn't just the yips.

And that's not an aspersion against the young man. He was a terrific weapon on punts and kickoffs and I'm delighted he'll be back next year.
Don't think it was the yips per se, but definitely between the ears when he needed to make kicks in an actual game.

I think I mentioned it before but I have a suite and often times forgo tailgating to set up food and whatnot. So I watch the guys warm up before every game. Hall flat out doesn't miss from anywhere. I'm talking both hashes. 40 yards, 50 yards, 60+. And I mean doesn't miss. From anywhere. So I think I was more frustrated than most watching him in game situations. The skill is there. Some guys can do it in games and some can't. :-k
What I heard was something about you having a suite and an open invitation to come up there?
Remind me next season and I'll absolutely have you up! \:D/

I appreciated this quote from Vigen..."Retaining your guys is about the experience that they have." Vigen explained. "And, at the same time, understanding that there might be some scenarios, some things offered to some guys that you can’t contend with. So, we got a little bit of both. We got more of those guys that in their mind at this point in time wouldn’t even think of leaving."
