Serious question . . . outside of North Dakota's butt reaming the griz and the five other losses including powerhouse PSU at home, don't you think that there should be a new stat stat generated, outside actual wins and loses, that supports the griz dominance based on factors like winning portions of a game, skewed preseason standing, youngness, and creative interpretation (not to be confused with the 10-day diploma issued by UM under the same name)? We could call this the Dominance In Participation Showing Highly Intensive Tenacity factor OR the ****** factor. We could all agree that the BH led griz would be clearly be undefeated in this category.

I spit beer out my nose, nice work. Reminds of setting yards passing records with ol’Stitty! The offense operated at full tilt. But the box score had an L in it.

So you're saying the Griz won the popular vote, but the Cats won the election?

Wow, this may have just cracked my top 5 posts of all time, maybe even top 3! Well Done haha! Yes, let's ask the playoff selection committee if they consider how often a team is "winning a portion of the game," or "if the team is the youngest they have ever been." when deciding the at-large bids. And if they don't we CLEARLY need to petition for them to be added to the criteria!
You guys keep leaving monte out of the discussion. Is this on purpose, or has he degraded also.
There should probably criteria for falling enrollment, felonies, asshole coach and obnoxious fans. I can smell a national title coming to Missoula with these criteria.

Well the band needed a fundraiser to go a couple hundred miles.......the team might need the same donors to poney up this year.

But they do have a river :-^

Just to show how meaningless these polls are.....last year MSU was picked to finish 8th, UC Davis 9th and NAU 3rd. In the end.....MSU was 4th, UC Davis 2nd & NAU 8th.

This year our BSC schedule appears to line up well. However, @ Texas Tech, SEMO followed by @ WIU is a tough way to start out the season. Gold Rush can't get here fast enough. GO CATS!

The Griz actually won that game because they were so dominant in the first half.
Why are griz great till they gotta be great?

12. Southern Utah - 38
13. Northern Colorado - 19

() Denotes First-Place Votes

Media Poll
1. Eastern Washington – 536 (25)
2. UC Davis – 510 (13)
3. Weber State – 472 (4)
4. Montana State - 417
5. Montana – 396 (1)

7. Idaho State - 285
8. Idaho - 248

There always seems to be a surprise team in the Big Sky. One much better than picked and one much worse than picked. Who do you think those teams will be this year? I think a good definition of a surprise would be to finish 4 or more spots above or below preseason predictions.

First for the surprise underperform: UC Davis, why? Eastern is too consistent to fall very far, Weber is getting to that same spot, would love to pick the Griz but I just can't see them finishing ninth or worse and there is no way I pick the Cats, so that leaves UC Davis. No one will overlook them this year and they are perhaps just a key injury away from dropping off. Not an easy decision but there it is.

The surprise outperform: Cal Poly, why? Again by elimination NAU, ISU, and UI not good enough to get out of the middle of the pack. Either SUU or PSU could surprise again like a couple years ago but I think that was just a fluke, not likely to be repeated. I think that Poly with there unique offense and strong tradition has the best shot of jumping into the top half of the league.

I love summer but I'm really starting to be ready for fall and football!
I'll play because this time of year is always filled with great anticipation for me. I'm going to agree with you to a certain extent, except I think it'll be EWU who falls significantly rather than Davis.

I think SAC, Idaho and PSU are all going to fare much better than the prognosticators have them placed. Much better in fact and I think the Griz win all those close games they lost last year. I really like the Griz kicker to win at least two games for them this year...I think they are the most improved team based upon...weight room rumors...
Listened to Colter. If I remember correctly he thinks Cal Poly and Portland State have the best chance do better than expected. Thinks the Cats could go 10-2. If we're 10-2 we should be a top 6, maybe top 4, team in the country.

Since last season ended, I believed we were a #12 to #15 team. I see being #12 as a show of respect even if haven't quite earned a spot that high, so that pleases me.

Why hasn’t MSU earned #12? They were in the round of 16 last year, which means they were somewhere between the 9th and 16th team left standing.

I think they have, but I know it's what some people think so I guess I let that unintentionally influence my response.

Gold Rush #12 vs #20. Great matchup.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Has ESPN announced their FCS kickoff game? Gold Rush is such an awesome atmosphere and ESPN usually chooses a Top 20 matchup.

Thanks. Now that I see that date, I recall that the game is usually a week before the FBS games start.

Penguins vs. Bulldogs to kick it all off.
