A few miles to the West gets you a farmers field, I mean maybe you could hunt some prairie chickens if your walker goes that far?

I will have to say I’m not a huge fan of Ale Works.St George wrote:I have always had good food and drink at Montana Ale Works. Their meat loaf is very good. And a trip to Bozeman is not complete without a cheesesteak from the Picklebarrel. Back in my original days in Bozeman you could not beat a burger steak, eggs and hash browns with a quart of milk at Manny's. Those were the days.
Great beer selection though.

Here's another good spot if you want a decent Montana steak like you'll get in Manhattan, Three Forks, Willow Creek or Ennis. I'd recommend, if you have the time, to take in some Charlie Russell Country around Great Falls and make the trip to Loma and the Banque in Fort Benton, one of Montana's Territorial Capitol towns.

When Lary and his family opened this, it was just to get it going again. If you fish, you can get away from all they Hyde and neoprene hatches the "famous" Montana trout streams will be full of this time of year.

Holy Cow. Something I agree with you on. The Ringling bar is fantastic. It is definitely out of the way unless you live in Willsall or White Sulphur. If you are anywhere near there try it. You do need reservations.Cat Grad wrote:Here's another good spot if you want a decent Montana steak like you'll get in Manhattan, Three Forks, Willow Creek or Ennis. The really good places in Montana don't have to advertise. You have to go out of your way to get to them and they are not found in our tourist traps.allcat wrote:Holy Cow. It's like comparing the good ales in this state like Copper John's in Belgrade, Cold Smoke by Kettlehouse and a couple others like what comes out of the Beaver Creek Brewery in Wibaux to that pony piss that comes out of the great northern in whitefish. The good beer is made in basically an old grainery or somebodies garage and the ****** comes from a fancy building.
Rictmeyer did a good job "remodeling" Ringling though.

It's been a long time since I was on a crew of hayseeds in the Martinsdale/White Sulpher Springs/Ringling area. Was the Ringling Bar formerly known as Honest John's, or were there two bars back then?Cat Grad wrote:Here's another good spot if you want a decent Montana steak like you'll get in Manhattan, Three Forks, Willow Creek or Ennis. I don't know. I only hung out in the Wilsall-Clyde City area and made certain I got my hind end up over the hill before dark...parents and aunts and uncles were very vocal about not letting the sun set on me anywhere near Living Stoned...Rich K wrote:It's been a long time since I was on a crew of hayseeds in the Martinsdale/White Sulpher Springs/Ringling area. Only 1 bar. It used to be called JT's. It may have had other names. I used to own the Winston Bar. It is now called the Big Bull. The gut that owns it does good, but simple food.Rich K wrote:It's been a long time since I was on a crew of hayseeds in the Martinsdale/White Sulpher Springs/Ringling area. Another place to go is the York Bar just a little ways from Yacht Basin on Canyon Ferry and Confederate Gulch. See both of those, go to the Montana Hysterical Societies Museum in Helena, take your obligatory photo in front of one of the two statues in the world of Tommy Meagher, and then go to York Island just outside of Townsend on the way back to Bozeangeles...make sure you stop in Toston at the Bunkhouse just to take a look around...maybe pop up and take a few pics in Radersburg. Anyway, lots to see and do and not get caught up in all the tourist activities. Have fun. Heck, call Rictmeyer and stay up on Battle Creek. Not far from Ringling.

Re: Visiting Bozeman
Last time I was in the Ringling bar, just over 1 year ago. A buddy and I stopped there for a drink as it was a place with deep family memories. The lady behind the bar had noticed I had out of state license plates and asked where we were going. Later in the conversation it came up that she was the county prosecutor and she had just nailed someone for drinking and driving. We finished our beer and headed for Bozeman. If she truly is the county prosecutor be careful.

Don't Worry about all that... Just bring this!WESTERNLEATHERNECKS wrote:Good afternoon Bobcat nation,
I am in the early phase of planning out a trip to Bozeman from Washington D.C. for the Leatherneck game. Right, now I believe we would fly into Bozeman on Wednesday night and stay for the game on Thursday night and since it's a holiday weekend we are debating on spending Wednesday to Monday up in Montana or the near by states. I would appericate some input about Bozeman, Montana, and the other surrounding states. My group and myself have never been to Montana and want to make this trip worth it and hopefully a Leatherneck win. (Flights from the East coast to Montana aren't the cheapest things in the world)
So for Wednesday and Thursday would y'all recommend staying in a hotel or a Airb&b? What actives (outside of the game and campus) are within driving distance from Bozeman (30-1 hour)
If you have never visited the area would you spend Wednesday thru Monday in the Bozeman area? Or drive West and visit that way and fly back from Seattle or another city west? Honestly, I know what we will be doing Thursday night but have no clue the rest of the days so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Do they still have a University over there. I heard a rumor that they were dropping down to a Junior College.Bobcatsinmso wrote:Go Scats Go wrote:Don't Worry about all that... Just bring this!WESTERNLEATHERNECKS wrote:Good afternoon Bobcat nation,
