Keep making fun of our win against Portland. They have now beaten Oregon State and last night Oregon. They are more solid than you give them credit.

I believe they also beat portland state. Are there any other D-I teams in Oregon? If not, that would make UP the best team in the state of Oregon.

I did see! I credit MSU for the win, but Oregon is now 6-5 and has a 179 RPI....

Especially considering the official "BSC Pre-Conference Schedule" Champions from Missoula drew a solid 2,000 for their game with Santa Clara.
yeah they did....now i wonder what it would have been like if the game were actually played in missoula

Yeah swilly and Stanford is sure tearing it up this year with both Oregon and Oregon State having better records than them. Lets just say a win over any team in the big conferences is a big win and Portland has some.

All right, the Griz are 10-1. That's absolutely amazing and the Griz are a great team. But we're talking about the Bobcats here. It was a great win against a very good Denver Pioneers squad last night. Let's have a nice Christmas then focus on North Dakota State next week.

GO CATS!

Good luck next week with North Dakota

Task List for Today:

1. Open mouth
2. Insert keyboard

New Year's Resolution #17: Before attempting to post clever dig on message board, check basic facts first.

In my defense, I just assumed all Griz sports teams weren't allowed to play non-conference road games "because of the budget deficit". (Sorry, I had to try to redeem myself).

Wow, swill, you're almost getting it!

Portland has beaten some "big-time" teams, and the Cats beat Portland.

In my book, that qualifies as a "big-time" win.

I can't wait for the conference to begin...

Big-time teams?

Neither Oregon or Oregon State made the NCAAs last year, Oregon didn't even make the Pac-10 tournament, and Oregon State lost its NIT game at home to Cal State-Fullerton.

I do find some of the talk I've heard of Montana becoming the next Gonzaga quite hilarious.

Any win over a WCC team is a good win, but let's keep Portland's record in perspective, they are 0-6 on the road this year and the MSU game was the only one that wasn't a double digit loss. They are a terrible road team.

Denver is also winless on the road this year.

People probably said the same thing about Gonzaga at some point.. Remember...teams in the Big Sky conference used to be able to beat Gonzaga fairly regularly before they became the Mid-Major power they are now...

Pepperdine fan "I find the talk about Gonzaga being anything but a crappy 14-16 seed in the NCAA tournament, if they even win the conference, quite hilarious!".

With great coaching, great recruiting, and playing some big named teams, why couldn't a big sky program become the next Gonzaga? So far Krysko seems to have the U of M headed in that direction.. The recruits he's recruited (Along with the ones Kennedy got us before he hauled ass back east) are doing a great job so far, and are VERY impressive. Just wait till you see them play :)

If the Griz, Cats, EWU, or any Big Sky team becomes the next Gonzaga, it'd be great for the other teams in the Big Sky. It gets the big sky more exposure...the more exposure, the more talented recruits want to come play in the conference...

Anyway, good win for the Cats. Any non-conference win is a good one! Even if us Griz fans poke fun at you cat fans when you drop a game you should've won (We've done that once so far this year with Boise), or beat a opponent that isn't ranked high (not like all the Griz opponents have all been ranked high or been big name programs) most of us realize that it'd be better for the Griz and all of the Big Sky Conference if the cats do win....same with any other Big Sky Conference program. The more wins we get non-conference, the more respect we get come tournament time. So we are probably rooting for the cats in non-conference...and just don't want to admit it :)

Good luck Thursday...and lets hope the next Gonzaga is from the Big Sky conference.......and that it is the Griz :P

nice post dexter. i always appreciate when griz fans say their piece, make valid points, and dont go out of there way to sound like an ass. i think what is funny about the gonzaga talk is that i believe that the talk is directly related to your success this season. can't take anything away from you guys, you're playing well. but i think the fact remains that the big sky is always a crap-shoot. and people probably did make fun of gonzaga in the beginning. especially to the fans that thought they were a top 10 team the first season that they started winning. their was no talk of um being the next gonzaga last year. or the year before. so the talk now seems funny. but like you said, i hope that someone in the big sky makes a name for themselves, even if it has to be you guys!
