Finalists are Fighting Hawks, Rough Riders, and NoDaks. Fighting Hawks was the leading vote getter in the first round. I'm guessing it has something to do with their old logo that looks like the Chicago Blackhawks logo?

That is ridiculous. I really do not like the name "Fighting Hawks". To me it signifies utter violence. There must be another more calm name...I would recommend something along the lines of "banana slugs".

Of course, the best unadopted nickname of all time-The Stanford Thunderchickens came out of California too.

I think they should go with "Angry White Devils."

Rough Riders is the best and only option.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Well if we want to eliminate race as a component of the mascot ... yeah, that would be a pretty good one.

How ironic would it be if the name Sioux was replaced with cavalry, a group who had a big hand in the defeat of the Sioux? Seems like insult to injury or maybe it would just be another thing to use to play the victim card with.

Indeed, that would be an ironic and humorous mascot to stick it to the tribes (no pun intended) that protested. I bet they would "play the victim card" though. Some people just can't take a joke.
