Hawaii Soph QB looking at MSU...
Hot off the press from sunny Hawaii...
ROLOVICH WILL TRANSFER TO I-AA SCHOOL
Quarterback Jack Rolovich said he will transfer to a Division I-AA school, a move that will allow him to play during the 2006 season. He said he is considering UC Davis, Montana, Montana State and Eastern Washington.
If he transferred to another Division I school, he would have to redshirt in 2006, according to NCAA rules. There is no waiting period for a player transferring to a lower division.
"I want to be back in there," said Rolovich, a third-year sophomore. "I don't even know what it's like to throw a touchdown anymore. That's the reason I came out here, to play football. I didn't really feel like I was getting an opportunity to play."
Interesting bit of competition for this kid. Any news on his prospects at this level?

His UH Roster Bio

I don't think he was 2nd team QB, UH has a Freshman behind Colt Brennan (a Junior). The freshman is Tyler Graunke. So being 3rd or 4th or ... behind a Junior and Freshman does make you want to find playing time somewhere. See this article:

It looks like his brother Nick Rolovich also played at UH (only guessing that it's a brother but with a name like that).

Another confirming brother and depth chart and release

I sure hope we don't start promising stuff to kids just because they come from a 1A school. If they aren't playing there, there is often a reason for it.

A couple of thoughts.
Our coaches tend to be very good and savvy recruiters, so I think they will check out any transfer very well beforehand.
Kramer likes competition, so nothing will be handed immediately to anyone.
Hawaii is a PASSING team and they attract a lot of QBs. They also have a very complex offense that makes it very difficult on a QB with Jones as the coach. Once a 1st team QB and a backup is identified, the older QBs are dropped down the depth chart whether they are very good or not because they will just not see playing time and the coaches want to work on the future QBs. Div I teams bring in one or two Freshman QBs to redshirt each year with 84 scholarships.
I guess what I am saying is if the coaches look into it and see something they really like, trust them. They have shown a very good track record in transfers.
No one ever has 100% but they have still been good. You can go through the list of transfers starting with Eddie S., Murray, Kolone, Miller, Fig, Saitaga, Bass (good, just hurt), Grenfield, Cooper, Gatewood, Junior Adams, Quinn, Hastings, Davis (hurt this year, but I think he will be the starter and a stud next year), Dom, LaBlanc, and on and on and on ........
Also, If I was Kramer, I would personnally (wouldn't trust my assistants on this one) check out an Hawaii QB very carefully. In fact, it might take two or three weeks of full time recruiting and checking him out over there in Hawaii during December and January. He should just take his sunglasses and some sun block incase he loses his hat.

That is EXACLTY what I was thinking. I want a mobile QB, and both Coppack and Carpenter are mobile.PapaG wrote:Trust me, the 'Cats don't want Swogger. The guy has Tyler Thomas written all over him.
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

He will not go for UM style football once he gets a look at the tapes. MSU or Eastern fit more his style. Sorry but I'm doubting that Montana really has a chance.Swilly3224 wrote:catsrback76 wrote:Montana

I lit Rolovich's ass up in H.S. a few times when we played San Marin High school and but he was really mobile, and a nemisis of mine. Anyways... I went to Cancun after graduation with some of my football buddies and who do we see getting hassled by the federalies (sp.?) Jack Rolovich! Aparently he tried to pee on a wall or something, we recognized him and grabbed him away from the federalies and got on the booze cruise boat. But I digress... You're getting a great drinker in Rolovich, but he's actually a really good QB. He is very fast and is a big kid. He throws a real pretty ball and is smart too. He should be playing at Hawaii right now. But if you guys are lucky enough to get him, the big sky needs to watch out.
