Well you know that grass can be killed in the spring and summer don't you?
As I recall, UM would schedule concerts at the stadium, and I am guessing these concerts were not held in the winter.

Quast as far as I can recall only 1 concert was ever held in Wa. Griz. That was Pearl Jam in June of '97.
