Why????

Post by 19CAT » Sat Nov 19, 2005 7:14 pm

We were at the game today and a friend of mine was about 4 rows ahead of us, there was a sprinkling of Griz fans in the mix and we were having a good time with each other, the back an forth ribbing that is accustomed to this type of event. Any way as the game got over the griz fan in front of my friend jerks off his sunglasses and sprays him in the eyes with pepper spray!!!, and yells F@ck the cats.

I couldn't believed what I saw, I will give kudos to the other griz fans that were in the area as they controlled the situation quickly and were kind of man handeling the guy outside.

I know the whole one bad apple story, so don't go there. But is it really so bad in our modern culture that people are going to pepper spray others because of thier team lost??? I sat there after it was over and thought of the damage someone could inflick with a semi or fully auto rifle shooting across the stadium. I have given the people at the game patting us down ****** before, but never again. I guess I never thought of what else they are checking for besides a bootle of Schnapps.

Any way great game for the BOBCATS. One of the O-lineman told me after the game that they new in the 1st quarter that they had them beat.

16-6 who would have thunk it??

By the way the other griz were acting I would guess that they straightened him out and that is why I gave them credits for there quick response.

I rode up the elevator at the hotel with a couple of little kids that talked about that very incident. I thought they might be embellishing a bit (you know how little kids can get). Wow... Maybe it was Bronco and he was feeling a little threatened??? Unvelievable...

I would like everyone to know that Meat was very civil at my tailgate. I caught a few disapproving looks from some of my buddies, but Meat was on his best behavior. The only time things got a little hairy was when a group of 9 year olds started picking on Meat. It was a little sad...

Just like a griz fan! Seriously, most griz fans are alright, except for the dirty hippies, and the douche bags who think that they are the ******. They need to look at the scorebaord. 16-6! CATS WIN!!!! 3 out of 4 aint bad for Lulay. We need to suit him up in his brothers uniform next year. Pretty much the best QB at MSU ever!!! Props to that guy!!!

Those weren't desapproving looks as you walked by, those were jeers cause you weren't even allowed to stop and say hi much less tailgate with any of us!

Not meaning to stir things up, but lulay's win - loss wasn't that great. He's a great player, and maybe it was just that he's not had the talent around him, but isn't he something like 27 - 20 as a starter? I don't know his actual W/L, but that's the best msu has ever had?

Truthfully RE/MAX I'm not sure there are too many QB's in Bobcat history that have overpowering win/loss records (at least going back 20-25 years). That being said, the reason that he is the best in MSU history in my books are the intangibles he brings to a game; the psychological effect of popping up first after being hit on a run and the tackler lays there in pain or has to go off, the "it" factor was huge for Travis, he's an absolutely great ambassador for Bobcat athletics on and off the field.
So, for me, it's not so much about records as it was for where he helped bring this team from and the person that he is.

I realy don't feel like bashing any of our players or coaches, but to me it seems like Lulay has been one of the few players on our team the last few years that has achieved his potential. I can't think of many games where we lost simply due to Travis having a bad game, but I can think of quite a few where he is the primary reason we won.

Whenever we talk about TL griz fans automatically assume the litmus of: "well if he didn't win a bunch of playoff games then he just isn't good, period" Thats just laughable.

Saying "TL isn't a good QB" is pretty much the same as saying "I'm an idiot, and I really don't know what I'm talking about"

Trent Dilfer for the HOF! ahem... sorry.

One good thing about Lulay graduating is that we won't have to listen to the friz trying to convince us that he isn't a good QB every week.

Q, it got worse at halftime and after the game. I'm not going to get into details. Let's just say we were treated very poorly by many Cat fans (most of them young punks). Your tailgate was the exception where we were treated great. The only reason that kid had the guts to come up to me was because he had 12 guys behind him and I was with the woman.

I guess I could understand if we were looking for trouble. Just me and the better half walking around, taking in the sights. We were actually nervous about our safety and there's no way that should happen. I realize that it happens at both places but I can't see myself going to another game in Bozeman. I have a very bad taste in my mouth about the experience. I heard a couple things that some Griz fans did as well. IMO, all those kids need a good a$$-kicking.

I may cause some contraversy with this, but I think that in a game like this the Griz fans should have been on the booster side tailgating. Or, have their own area completely set aside. I know on the booster side, where we tailgate, there were several Griz fans amongst the group and I would say that all were treated fairly well. Heck, I even offered several some "uncooked ribs". But in the end they usually ended up having a beer with us and waiting for the ribs to finish cooking before eating them.
So, try the other side next time.

I agree; I told some egrizzers that their best bet was the northern fenceline on the student side (where kmax hangs up his shingle) or in the west tailgate area.

Whether any griz fans want to admit it or not, alcohol & college students are not a good mix in a rivalry situation at ANY college in America.

I agree, if Griz fans have any other future problems I would recommend not hanging out on the student side or you are just asking for trouble. The student side was CRAZY (I hope someone got some good pictures from atop the stadium) and you are hit or miss for walking into trouble over there. The Booster side is probably the area to hang out next time as most of the MSU boosters would kindly drink some beers with you all. I bet there were 5-7,000 fans in the student areas that didn't even have tickets to the game. TAILGATING MADNESS!

P.S - I'm still waiting for a Griz fan to post a picture of their grand tailgate that they have in Missoula. No takers yet. I have been to a lot of football games (NFL/COLLEGE) and none of them come even close to the student side tailgate over this past weekend. Unbelieveable.

Kmax - I hope you have some pictures of that ... WOW!

White Meat,

Each camp has its horse's arses. For example, last year in Missoula, me, my wife and another Bobcat couple were walking from the stadium back to our vehicle. While we were walking across the old bridge toward the Press Box bar a retired couple approached us and told us "you suck!" among other unprintable words/phrases. Now I can take a ribbing/taunting after a loss but that was a bit much. Why Me and Mr. Johnson didn't throw those two clowns off that old bridge into the Clark Fork still bothers me. Probably due to my Alter Boy and Boy Scout days I guess (respect the elderly). Anyway, have a beer and chill. Maybe next year I'll throw those old coots off the bridge but then again maybe I'll tell them they suck after we kick the griz's arse :!: :!:

Heck with it, let's go have a beer WM. I'll buy.

I can't believe a retired couple would do that. Especially when you're with you wife. Sounds like they just need a little knot on top of the head. I'm sure I'll settle down after a week or two. I can say this for sure. I promise two things, never to go through the student side of the tailgates, and never sit in the pepsi zone again. That was a joke.

Ok, let's have a beer. :-)
