Ok, I haven't seen a thread about what happened last week with the holder for kicks.
Coppack messed up on 2 holds in a row potentially costing us 4 points. Lulay held for the last kick, THAT IS WHAT I WANT, LULAY GETTING JUPMED ON BY SOME IDIOT.
I was at the game but couldn't see what happened on the kicks, initially I thought he missed the pad, but then I remembered, they don't use a pad in college anymore.........did he miss the ground?

Could be wrong, but I think it was Carpenter, not Coppack- looked to me like at least one was a poor snap, but was surprised when Lulay came in for the last one. QB, runner, punter, kick holder- what's next? Will he hike to himself or catch his own pass downfield?

FTG!!

No, it was most definitely Coppack. And yes there was one bad snap, but the other one was entirely Coppack's fault. As I said before, Lulay can handle the pressure as he has been through it. I don't have a problem with him holding.

My theory: Coppack stood on the sideline freezing all game and came in and dropped the snap with cold hands of stone. He's bungled a couple of snaps early in the season-or was it bad snaps? In any case-it's never a sure thing. He needs to stay warm in front of the space heater.

Why doesn't Kramer get a wideout in there? One they should have the best hands on the team, and two, if the snap is a bad one or botched, at least you have someone back there that is an athlete.

Last year and the year before it was Matt McCullough. Daws and McCullough were a very very solid twosome. Matt didn't play much at the WR position, but he did an amazing job at holding.

Maddie was my roommate and he got thrown in as a holder two years ago at Eastern when Turnquist got hurt. Kramer pulled him aside and asked if he had ever held and he said yes...which may not have been the whole truth. It helped that we also had Daws, who is about as good as they get with long snapping jacking the ball back there too. These two did great things that I think a lot of us took for granted...especially with the poor snaps at the beginning of the year and now the bad holds. If this keeps going on, Kramer should just pull another random kid who's sitting the bench and have him hold...worked out last time

Cat_stache_fever listens to Nickelback...and enjoys it.

It looked to me like both snaps were fine, nothing to mess up the holder.

You know WR's, get a ball in their hands and they happy feet... I think Coppack had one bad handle all season. Not a bad %, and when you look at the remainder of the season, he has the most experience and is least likely to screw it up.
IMO: Lulay does NOT need to be in there for the hold. Too many defensively CO' might be tempted to lay on him 'accidently' take the penalty and eliminate the QB. Not a good idea.

Seems to work fine for a lot of NFL teams and other college teams, and I agree, Lulay is the last option in there as holder

My take is that given the tempreture and wind chill it wouldn't matter who holds the ball. If they are coming off the sideline (heaters or no) cold from no physical exertion then they are not at peak performance level and are subject to an increase potential for errors in execution.
Perhaps the best solution IMO would be to use one of the skill position people that come off the field as the FG/Extra Point team comes on. Failing that, let's get the sideline coats out (saying the hell with the macho no coat mentality). Warm players are in a better physical position to win ballgames than cold players.

He may change his mind on this, but Kramer said that Coppack was "fired" at halftime of the SSU game. He said he won't be doing it anymore this year and that Travis has assumed those responsibilities.
