Don't take this the wrong way, thuss, but frankly I don't really care whether you hold my not watching the game against me. The questions I asked were general questions, not limited merely to this game, and whether or not I saw the games this weekend is really not relevant to answering my question.thuss wrote:You made a great point in that you did not watch the game.
A diving interception should be heralded, or even one where the DB makes a great play on the ball. However, when the reciever basically volleyball sets the ball to the griz LB. C'mon
And if a blocked FG is returned for a TD every game or once every ten games, or once every 50 games, or once every 100 games, or once every .... Then I wouldn't consider it lucky. My point is it doesn't happen as often as a 43 yard pass.
You shouldn't have responded unless you had seen the game.
I don't hold it against you, understanding that you don't get the games in your neck of the woods.
In general, fans always tend to call it "luck" when a team wins a game because of a spectacular play. Why is that? The fact that blocked field goals don't often get returned for TDs does not mean it's "luck" when it does happen. Similarly, a lot of Cat fans called it "luck" back in 2000, when Farris made his crazy circus catch in the end zone to beat App. State in overtime -- why is a play like that "luck," instead of just a great effort by the guy who made the play?
Ask yourself this question: if a Cat special teams player returned a blocked FG 67 yards for a TD, do you think you'd be calling it luck? Do you think you'd walk up to the player and say "hey, great run; you really got lucky on that play!" If you're honest with yourself, I think you know I'm right...
Of course, what do I know. I didn't even watch the game on Saturday.
