Thank god for a good posting. The only info I beleive is from the person and his immediate family. I completely agree with you on the signing day notion. And, yes, good luck to Andrew and my alma mater, West High. Good luck in the playoffs (which don't even start for another 3 weeks or so, but West clinched a playoff spot last week).
longhorn, you're a West High grad as well? What year? Class of 95 here.
Just graduated this year actually. Class of '05. I like to say alma mater, though. It sounds cool. I'm a freshman at MSU right now.
Longhorn 22: Since you follow Billings West football, who else on that team is a strong D-1AA recruit?

I would say there are only a couple. I would consider Eli Johnson-S (7 interceptions so far), Chris Wells-RB/LB (590 rush yds. 12 td's), and maybe Shawn Harcharik-LB (54 tackles through 5 games) or Paul Klaboe-DL (5 sacks in the first five games) as the only maybe I-AA prospects. I don't have any current defensive stats as of the moment, just the ones through the first five games. All the offensive stats are current.

So, are all the other players I-A talent?? :D :D I say this because of the way they have been drubbing opposing teams this year.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Eli Johnson, while a great safety, doesn't have enough of the tools to play D1-AA football. He does great things but not big enough or speedy enough and you need 1 of the 2.

Harshark is a good lienbacker and a big Cats fan and hustles around like crazy but he too may not have the size.

Wells is a great running back-strong and fast with great moves. Cats or Griz better work on him.

Rider is another safety who is such a hitter. I think he's 1st or 2nd on the team in tackles and has about 3 picks. I watched West a few times and he always stands out on defense. He's got pretty good bloodlines too I think. A friend told me his dad was a player at Texas back in the late 1970s.

Carlson is a very good one too but like his brother Jesse will probably not show up in Bozeman. I think he has like 4 returns for TDs this year.

Klaboe is a hard worker dlineman and center. He is strong and pretty relentless.

I don't know much statwise other than what they've accomplished, but there's a website called maxpreps.com that has a lot of the stats. I'll try to check it out, but West is on there.

These sizes were listed at the beginning of the season:
In parentheses are the posision they could play in the BSC.

Shawn Harcharik: 5'9" 190 (LB)
Eli Johnson: 5'10" 160 (could play corner)
Mike Rider: 5'11" 175 (could play S/CB)
Chris Wells: 5'9" 175 (RB/LB)
Paul Klaboe: 6'0" 200 (DL/LB)

Like I said, these were from the beginning of the season and they could have changed a bit.

Chris Wells of West this season has averaged 8.55 yards per carry running the ball. He also has 12 TD's through 7 games. I think he could be very valuable to whoever gets him.

Good lord I got old fast. Class of '87 at Billings West; Class of '91 at MSU. I was a senior during Klaboe's first year as head coach, and he was my position coach. I will go back to the back porch and whittle and mumble to myself as I reminisce about the old days in a moment.
Back on topic, Wells looks like the best athlete West has. Might be too small for I-A, but he's a damn good player.
