Chester will not be bullied into watching this movie [-X

His two cents are as follows: Chester spent K-8 in the government schools (a very high funded and well acclaimed district) and 9-12 in a private catholic high school so that is the background for which he is commenting. The standard physical bullying was wide-spread in the junior high (7th n 8th grade), fights were probably a bi-daily occurrence. Students gather to watch and cheer, teachers break it up, combatants get a couple of days of paid-leave then come back, wash rinse repeat. H.S was more of the chatty put-down teasing bullying between establish cliques. Most of it was based on income levels, clothing (there was a dress code, but wasn't of the school-girl uniform variety :( so it was more designer garb vs jcpenny i.e.), sports, etc... this was not a very common occurrence and actual physical bullying / fights were very rare.

Obviously there is a difference between a junior high kid and a 17 year old high schooler but the real difference that Chester noticed between the two institutions were 1.) the involvement of parents in the kids lives and 2.) his private high school can kick your bullying / trouble-making ass straight into the government school.

(Chester is going to leave it there since it is 11am in the east and there is a 1/2lb medium well-burger with grilled onions and bbq sauce with his name on it waiting for him at a local establishment =P~ )

Funny, everyone knows I am not a bully on the internet or in real life. I just treat people the way they treat me...........so look in the mirror.

The classic bullies defense. How many times has the Bullies dad been in the principles office raising holy heck that his son did start the fight he finished it. reason number one why violence on violence doesn't work.

I don’t believe that anyone is trying to bully anyone else into seeing the movie, just trying to point out that there is more that each of us can learn about the problem. I don’t question any of the anecdotal stories shared here about people’s experience with bullies and their success at getting the bully to stop bullying them. More often than not you didn’t actually stop the bully; you just moved him on to his next target. Good for you, not so good for the next target. The stories shared don’t give a very comprehensive picture of all the kinds and intensities of bullying; the stories have barely described the tip of the iceberg. There are bullying situations that will not be stopped as easily as some here would have us believe.

You know we say that sports teaches us life lessons, so what can sports tell us about what some posters have written here? In sports it’s easy to see that a 150-pound player put on the line can’t realistically be expected to stop the 250 – 300 pounder across the line from him. A player with a severe concussion isn’t able to properly defend himself. There comes a point when an injured player just doesn’t have the physical ability to stop an opponent. In life there are bullying situations where the difference in size just can’t be overcome with “Stand up to em and punch em in the face…”. There are some who do not and maybe never will have the mental capacity to defend themselves against their bully. There are some who, not because of injury but because of life long physical impairment may not be able to stop the one who decided to be their bully. Count yourself fortunate if one or more of those wasn’t your situation with your bully but don't be foolish enough to think that your situation and solution fits every case.

Now what should sports be able to teach us about how we can be more successful at defeating our opponents the bullies.
A successful coach will use every resource available to him to train and prepare his team for the differences found in each opponent. He watches film and has his players watch film so they know what to expect from each different opponent (hint). What worked on an easier opponent may not be nearly enough for a tougher one. What worked years ago may not be enough on newer styles and techniques. Adjustments may need to be made and new strategies used. In sports it’s easy to see that if all a coach offers to his players is, “Stand up to em and punch em in the face…” then he really hasn’t done his job to fully prepare them with all the tools to be successful. In life those of us with kids and who care about the kids in our community need to learn and use every resource, effective technique and method to prepare ourselves and kids to be successful at stopping bullies. On the field we rally to any of our teammates that are the victim of a cheap shot. We each need to be as willing to protect and defend someone who is the target of cheap shots from a bully in our community. To do less than this makes you part of the problem and not the solution.

There you go again, typical example of Alpha trying to lead the discussion to the low road. You’ll have to go there by yourself. Come back and discuss issues when you get lonely.

Is anyone else familiar with Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" campaign? Basically it's an outreach program for LBGT youth aimed at letting them know that, even though it's tough now, life will get easier as they get older and that they'll find acceptance. I can think of a lot of kids from high school (not necessarily homosexual) that could've benefited from a program like that. I don't usually care for Savage's personality (he can be fairly snotty) but kudos to him on a great idea.

No you are wrong again. I did not make any effort to smear you. I was simply pointing out that your posts don’t square up with each other and that leads to you creating a believability gap for yourself. Prime example of this can be found over on the McGhee Vs Bleskin thread on Bobcat Football. Plenty of posters there have expressed their low level of belief in what you say. It remains that your actions speak louder than words. I’ll follow the advice of others and leave you to yourself now.
P.s. You do such a good job at smearing yourself that there is no point of anyone trying to add to it. Hope springs eternal that as various posters point this out to you maybe someday you will give serious thought to changing your ways.
