Just a little more and a few corrections now that i have the kids to bed. According to Oregonpreps.com Noonan did not trip to Montana State with Davis, it was previuos MSU commit Travis Derochowski who tripped with him. Noonan canceled his trip and commited to Boise State.

Davis is rated by Northwesthoops.com as the top point guard in the state of Oregon this year. He averaged just under 20 points a game last year.

Question: Have we had any players from Oregon in the past? I can't remember any.

We will have 5 schollies to fill...correct?

Are these going to be the only two HS kids or do you think we'll sign a third?

Any news on PJ Owsley? Do we still want him back?

How about the HS pt guard from Washington. I assume that he is out of the mix after the signing of Davis.

I'm blanking on his name right now, but the really good forward we had back in the mid-90s was from the Portland area. Every time I played basketball at the facility our city league used, I wore my MSU gear, and one of the guys who worked there would strike up a conversation with me about his good friend (whose name I STILL can't drum up, and it's bugging me) that played for the Cats.

Nico Harrison? I'm just guessing, but I think he was from the Portland area.

Shea Washington was from Oregon too.

If we do have 5 schollies to give, I certainly hope we sign more than 2 high schoolers. Since we do lose a bunch of good players, I would hope to see us sign 3 high schoolers and fill the other 2 with JC's.

I don't know what the thinking among the staff is about this kid, but I don't want to see us go after him. He is a basket case. He had his chance, let someone else deal with him.

Wasn't Tony Hampton from Portland as well?

Hampton was a guard for Stu Starner on the team that played Walter Berry's St. Johns squad in the first round of the NCAA's. He was a so-so guard during the season, but if I remember correctly, he really came on in the Big Sky Tournament and the St. Johns game that year.

5 seniors on the team this year.

I hear we are looking at 2 highschool Kids 2 JC kids and 1 best jc/high school kid available.

Last fall we actively recruitected PJ this year i think we are taking a wait and see additude. Remember we recruited, offered, and walked up isle with him twice just to left at the alter twice. Kind of leaves a bad taste in the mouth

We have been recruiting Oregon hard since Shea Washington. There is still a kid or two we are looking at. Both jc and high school. We came close to signing a kid there last year before Wilson signed.

There are two guards from Washington we were looking at. I think if one commited we would sign them. 6-3 Pooh Williams (who is more likely to become a Griz) is a guard / forward and Mike Taylor 6-2 (Jason Erickson clone) is a combo guard. Both are ranked #2 in washington at those possitions. Plus their is 6-7 Kyle Coston a sm / pf John Lawoski (sp) clone from washington rated also 2nd in Washington at the power forward. I think any of thies guy may be signed as high schoolers, with Taylor the most likely.

I agree, I could take it or leave it with this kid. Not only did he seem extremely soft on the court, but he's been nothing but wishy-washy off the court. Let him waste someone elses scholarship this time.

Yes, Nico and Hampton were Portland kids. Hampton played JC ball down at College of the Desert in So. Cal. before coming to MSU in the mid-80's. He was awesome in the '86 Big Sky tournament....got in a zone and could not be stopped. Just remembered Daryl Ross from Baker, Oregon was a Hank Anderson recruit back in the early to mid-70s.....a 6-8 center.
