Re: New Kicker AJ Silva
He hit a 64 yard FG this year.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Re: New Kicker AJ Silva
wasn't there another kicker or two that verballed to the Cats, walking on, etc.
Bolton is already there, Silva... wasn't there one or two other names coming in?
I would think 2 kickers on the roster is more than enough, just my opinion.
also, Silva looks like a good one!!!!

Re: New Kicker AJ Silva
not to be a kill joy, but the kid that hit the 64 yard FG is Austin Pacheco who is going to Nevada.CatBlitz wrote:He hit a 64 yard FG this year.
AJ Silva still looks pretty good. Looks like a good athlete.
"Silva made 87 extra points and nine field goals, including two of 50 yards, last season for the Northern 4A champion Raiders, as well as had 84 touchbacks in 121 kickoffs. Silva also passed for 2,884 yards, rushed for 630 yards and had 54 combined touchdowns. He was the RGJ's All-North 4A Player of the Year"

I dont think that the coaches are sold on any kicker yet. Otherwise we wouldnt be recruting so many. Hopefully one of these guys can step up.mslacatfan wrote:wasn't there another kicker or two that verballed to the Cats, walking on, etc.

That was a poorly written article, easy to get confused.

Silva threw for 43 TDs with just six INTs. Ran for 611 and 11 TDs.
Here's an article on the Reed High School team and all their post-season awards. The coach has some nice stuff to say about Silva.

Here's his highlights with commentary, which is a new twist:

The negative number is how far into the end zone the ball goes. The first number is hang time. He's kicking off from the 40. About a 10-20 mph cross wind for the first 10 minutes. Sparks elevation is 4,400.

Re: New Kicker AJ Silva
After watching his video, I think he has potential. I would love for him to meet and maybe workout with Cunningham. As far as the form goes, he needs the work, but he is still young. I think Cunningham could help a lot.

Not sure, but he is definetly someone to keep on speed dial.. Im sure he would help in any capacity he can.. Not a very far trip for Mr. Silva to go to Dallas to train for a bit.

It's kind of handy to have a kicker who's a former standout QB ... that could always add a wrinkle to any FG or PAT situation.

Re: New Kicker AJ Silva
Received an e-mail from a friend of mine who is a Superintendent in Nevada. He spoke very highly of Mr. Silva, was very surprised that he didn't get snarfed up by a bigger school, and also mentioned the threat of the fake on kicks.Bay Area Cat wrote:It's kind of handy to have a kicker who's a former standout QB ... that could always add a wrinkle to any FG or PAT situation.

I believe Jan is around. He'd probably be a good one to get some pointers from. Wonder what the ties are like between the team and him.
